Pool Ball Collecting.

What is a set, 4 balls or 16? The box looks like it only holds 4 balls
Sixteen balls, dear chap.

Words cannot adequately express how sincerely grateful I am to receive these two fabulous gifts from my dear friend, Ennio Badin, this morning.

I believe the branded cueballs to be prototypes and thus never released to market. I am a lifelong Raschig enthusiast, seeking stuff like this for nearly fifty years, so to be sent such desirable pieces truly was a humbling experience.

Grazie mille, Ennio!

Those must be a wonderful addition to your Raschig collection.
Were you aware they existed before receiving them?

Could anyone enlighten me about clay balls? I only now clay as the material for plates and dishes. What kind of clay is used for billiard balls? And might a set like these still be playable, or do they get brittle over time? Last question obviously only out of curiosity, because nobody with a sane mind would actually play with a rare set like these 😊
Mulambo,
Your question has hung in the back of my mind for a while. I've been trying to read up a little bit and I found this article.

I find most of my collection of what would be considered Clay balls are actually a composite type mix. We've threatened to try using them before recovering the table so we don't do any damage to good cloth. I would imagine they have more friction and would be harder to do draw shots and the such. If we ever try it, I'll let you know how it goes.

Fellow pool ball enthusiasts, I have a question regarding finding replacement balls. I own this older Crystalate set in 52,5mm

Sadly I am missing a cue ball, and I have 12 reds instead of 10. I searched on ebay, but could not find incomplete sets. What would be my best option for a cue ball replacement? An Aramith ball? Or should i just wait for my luck to find a affordable incomplete one somehow?

I would be rather delighted as well, to maybe get another 3 reds. Hence making it a full Snooker set containing 15 reds, which could replace my cheap Chinese Power Glide set as well.

Or should I just try and make a "want to buy" thread in this forum here?

Any help or tips would be appreciated! 😊
