Pool, Get Out the Life Rafts !

In a word, yes.
I have to admit, I have no desire to watch pool on TV. I remember back in the mid 90's when I first got DirecTV, ESPN would show 9-ball tournaments regularly.....and I never missed them. Now, I just find watching it on TV excruciatingly boring.....like watching nascar or golf.....boooring!!! I'd much rather go play it and improve my game than watch someone else who makes me depressed about how bad I suck.....but that aside, I will love the game even if it does completely fade into history.....
I nearly put my equipment up for sale.
I also follow the pulse of the game and it caught me off guard when two guys that now the game much deeper than I do showed such despair. Pool in its simplest form will never completely die, but it is not going the direction that we would hope.
At around 50 years old I found it depressing to know I will probably not see the "good times" return.
I did enjoy the directness of JCN and hope he stays around although he wants out and who can blame him.

I always learned far more by watching in person.....back when I was a regular at the pool halls is when and where I learned most.....and a lot of practicing. TV just doesn't replicate it.....that's just my opinion of course.
Ive realized lately the problem pool on tv has. There is no narrative. We see a match almost completely out of context. I'll watch because I love pool that much but no one ever tries to tell a story or build drama to draw the viewer in. Almost every other sports telecast does this. Pool doesn't.

The podcast that TAR does. If you go to their youtube channel you can see past podcasts as an example. Kind of like a pool radio talk show where the hosts discuss pool topics, answer questions and sometimes do interviews. American Billiard Radio is another podcast.

Yeah that was pretty rough. Balance is a virtue in all formats.
I also believe that unity is better than division. The atmosphere as a whole in cue sports, the US, the world. We are climbing out of a massive hole collectively. I cant help but feel a little inspired regardless of the current challenges.

If someone can point to something and prove that it wasn't I am all ears. In a nut shell pro pool in the US is a dying market with terrible demographics. How many 18-24 year year olds do you see around the game seriously? How many people in general do you see in the stands at any pro event?
Pool as a game is just fine in the US. It is changing but its not going anywhere. The pro side as we have known it is though and no amount of wishful thinking can change that. Only thing that can is money, cooperation and some type of structure and leadership by someone with brains and vision. Anyone see that out there on the horizon anywhere?

I hope you hang in Justin. I truly believe there will be some new hope in the next few months. IMO, it had to hit bottom before enough people started thinking with an IQ over 60. We saw this coming, right? Ebb and flow.
