Okay, Ive heard this term thrown around a few times in the pool world. One drunk guy (not namming names) ALMOST called me one. His nuts ALMOST met my knee. :lovies: Anyway here are my questions
1) What is a pool groupie? please be detailed.
2) Are there any pool groupies that you can name?
3) Do any of the ladies out there find the term pool groupie offensive
4) Should I have kicked him in the nuts?
1) You have several different categories of groupies.
There are those who either male or female, who are attracted to pool players because of their skill or status. This is the traditional use of the word groupie.
Then, you have the people who just can't stop blowing sunshine up every single one of their pool playing heroes, asses. I'm not talking about the guy who is a fan, who wants a picture, or an autograph like normal fans, but the guys who go off the deep end, worshiping the ground their hero walks on, who would gladly be that persons personal carpet to stomp on, all because to them, they are the greatest pool players alive.
They turn every pool conversation into a conversation about their favorite player and never shut up about them.
Then, you have those, who are incapable of realizing the truth about the pool players that they like, choosing to only focus on the good about a person, and ignore ALL the bad about them.
Pool player is a crumb of a human being and everyone knows they are a bad person, yet no one ever chooses to focus on that, and instead choosing to talk about how great the guy plays, or how much skill the person has, or how much that person is good for pool, when the person is a piece of junk.
They would rather just ignore all the bad, and when anyone questions it, they immediately get defensive. They would rather keep people in the dark about the realities of some players and realities of pool, but they feel that it is their duty to only talk good things about everyone.
Generally, these are the people that aren't smart. Lets just leave it at that.
Then you have the cheer-leading groupies who insist on blowing situations completely out of proportion, trying to make something seem like it was more magical then it really was, a shot, a game, an accomplishment, when honestly, no one really cares and everyone just wants them to shut up because they know that it wasn't as awesome or significant as the groupie is making it out to be.
2)Yes, plenty of them, but i won't.
3)Don't see why they should as it is not limited to women.
If we are talking about the traditional type of groupie, men and women can do whatever they want with their bodies. Who is anyone to think they can tell them that they can't.
4)No.
All that means is that for whatever reason, you take offense to being called a groupie, when in reality, you should not care what others think of you.
