I just got done looking at AZ before I went to bed. I flipped channels on the TV in my bedroom and Pool Hall Junkies is on Spike TV.

I remember when it was in production. I don't think it ever made it to theaters (If it did, it didn't play around here.) I bought the video (me and maybe 100 other people?)

I can't believe its actually on cable. Thumbs up to Spike TV!

Didn't buy the video...But I did buy the DVD. I was watching it one day when my roommate's boyfriend came over and he ends up buying it a week later. Tried to make one of my ex-girlfriends watch it once...didn't end well. But I bought her a copy just because. Yup...just about everyone I hang out with has seen this movie at some point. The guys all love it. The girls all hate it.

Not a good movie, I got it from Netflix a few weeks ago just to check it out. Awful story.

It does have some redeeming factors though.

1. Chris Walken. The guy is always good.

2. Use of "real" name pool folk. Including of course "Toupee Jay!"

3. "I'll tell you where you got your shoes!"

4. Not too long!

Overall, not a great film but something to put on while you're seeking sleep.

Well it's now 3am central and I got to watch the last two mins of the movie where the two guys are walking out and one drives off with the girl... OH well... Thats the most I've seen of this movie.... Now it's the Girls Gone Wild commercials...

Great movie .i've seen it many times i always enjoy it..thanks again Cuaba..:)

I actually liked the movie....... the biggest problem for me with it, was Rick Schroeder. If you are going to have a nemisis at something...... they should at least APPEAR proficient. If they would have gotten someone else (Bobby Leblanc etc) to be that role, the movie would have came off better.

I will, agree with RiverCity, when I first bought this movie, I would watch it before going to play pool, to kinda psych me up lol, this was when the movie was first out for rent/sale.
Well after watching it many times and then realizing stuff that goes on at the pool hall. I was like, why did they give Schroeder's character a graphite cue? and not something better like a plain Sneaky Pete? Expecially if he is suppose to be so good and unknown.
Plus, why couldnt they atleast give Schroeder some lessons on stance, using a proper bridge and all that stuff. The other thing I cringe at is the stupid one-liner's and the 100mph shots at everything to only get perfect position. And no saftey play, EXCEPT for the last bit, and the main character needs advise from the pool hall manager? WTF
I know someone else said this too about this movie, "johnny's" brother who makes 200-300$ per day hustling? and he needs to hawk his guitar? and has to borrow his brothers cue?
Anyways, enough ranting for the day lol

Bobby shot all those good shots where you saw only the balls going in.

Christopher Walken made that movie worth watching! And a bunch of us in NYC saw a free preview back at a theater in times square when BD was giving out free tickets!

But Jay, didnt you notice with Robert Leblanc combo's the 6-9, the 5 ball is still on the table in the corner of the TV?

I will say that Christopher Walken does make the movie worth watching, it's like they gave him all the good lines and everyone else got the second's.

i agree about Walken but everyone else was too angry and confrontional, it didnt seem like real life to me, everyone was pissed. I wish there were more pool movies, with the amount of pool and the tournments, action, cahrcters, etc there is alot of script writing for good movies that could produced at a profit. not guys all pissed at each other like in Junkies
