Pool halls around the US that offer monthly rates on table time?

I remember a pool hall that was (is) located down in Palm Harbor FL back in around 1999, and I think that it was (is) called Sticks Billiards, and at that time, they had a monthly table rate deal where you could play unlimited pool in the day time (before like 6 pm I think), and the cost was like $50 (but may have been like $30).

Anyways, it was an amazing deal for unlimited table time for an entire month before 6 pm every day.

I am curious if very many pool halls do that type of thing these days?

I am in Louisville now, and wish that one of the local pool rooms offered a deal like that.

I figure that they may as well, since they are usually pretty dead in the day time anyways, and it would also get them more business (on customers buying food and drinks).

I lived in Evansville IN for awhile, and there was a place there that offered free pool for like a 4 or 5 hour time frame in the day time (if you purchase a meal that cost around $10 on average).

But a monthly pass, for a certain amount of money, like maybe even a $100 per month would be worth it for the serious player that wants to work on their game and put in many hours practicing.

I understand that most people work in the day time, but there are many pool players that work nights I imagine, and would be very interested in a monthly day time pass like this, and this would give pool rooms a lot of extra income I think.

I do not know, what do you guys think?

And do you know of pool rooms that offer monthly passes like the one that Sticks Billiards down in Palm Harbor offered (and may even still be offering today)?

I am just curious.

I so wish that pool was a much more popular game, but sadly it is not.

I think that a nice monthly pass would give people a little more incentive to go out and play (and as long as they want to, without worrying about the very expensive table time rates that most places charge these days).

The places are mostly dead all day long in the day time, so why not offer a nice monthly pass for day time playing?

If I were to just play 1 hour a day (at $6 per hour), then that would be around $180 per month in table time (just for 1 hour of playing time per day), so a $100 unlimited day time pass would actually be a really good deal (even if you just wanted to play 1 hour each day).

Thanks for reading, and for any thoughts about this.
You have to be sure you have the rules ironed out to be fair to everyone.
I was in a place about a year ago that had a deal like that. I played a guy for like 6 hours. When I went up to pay the girl says I owe $48.00 table time.

When I questioned it she said the other player is a league player and he doesn't pay time. I said that has nothing to do with me, the table was two players and I should owe half of two players. She gave me an argument so I paid and left, never to go back.

When I told this to someone else they told me the same thing happened to them and they never went back either. Really nasty people.

You may find a few like that. If it were a Private Club or a Hall subsisting on just monthly memberships at that price, they wouldn't be in business long.
30 memberships would gross them $3000.00. Think of how many memberships that they would have to sell in order to make their monthly nut before they even made a profit.

Now, you take a normal hall with monthly and hourly charges. Obviously, the monthly members would think that they take priority over hourly, right. So, you are going to kick regular customers off an hourly table in order to accommodate monthly's. They would get pissed and soon go elsewhere.

If it were that cheap per month, in order for them for make it, they would have to have a serious amount of tables or you would have to pre book your table time and then doubtful
that you could get even an hr per day in.

Halls are closing faster than Pizza Joints in North America, without them thinking of great ways to go broke.

Sure, if I lived in a Pool Hall like I used to, 5 to 6 hours a night,
times 30, I would love to only have paid a Hundo for all that table time.

I can see that there are many that do offer this. But up to a certain time obviously. Great if you have a day off or retired. A working stiff, 9 to 5 would be hard pressed to take advantage of much of this.

Maybe they can pull this off in the USA. Canada, no way. 10 to 12 an hr if yer lucky. $5.550 to $6 a beer. Gonna cost ya to play or practice a bit. And they absolutely hate water drinkers.

People don't want to pay. That is why they pay twice as much for a small bottle of something rather the shell more money for the large size. They want to keep their money in their pockets. $100.00 for a month is probably a good deal, but I bet few would actually pay it.

And ya know what Mac. Yer right.

Judging from our water drinking pool players that didn't fully support our hall when it was open and then complained when it was closing.

No matter how good the deal, they wouldn't be able to pull a hundred out of their pockets in advance.

Empire billiards in Redmond, WA offers unlimited pool for $200 per month or $150 minus Fri-Sat...something like that.

Diamond Billiards in Midlothian Va. has unlimited pool from 9 to 6 every day for $40 a month- I live 75 miles from there, and only make it up about 5 times a month, but still come out ahead-great pool hall-

Monthly rates

Up until recently I used to play at Classic's Billiards in S.E. Portland. Many of us regulars tried to get the owner to have daily rates or at least a happy hour to attract some players during the day. But he refused to listen. Many a years were spent in Classic's when I would be the only one paying to play pool for the first few hours.

He said that he would be losing money if he offered a discounted rate. All the while I was playing the other tables remained empty.

I decided to go to Sam's in N.E. Portland. For $85 bucks up front I joined a straight pool league. Each session is about 3 1/2 months. The best thing is that I can play from 7am to 7pm for FREE. And if I play 20 matches I get $20 back.

Can you spell "no-brainer". Plus there are always people playing during the day so if you want to play a match or just hit balls its your choice. Great people too.

I dunno... Sounds fair to me.

Also sounds like you didn't like it, which is understandable.

Perhaps we don't have enough info, but you and the other guy didn't meet eligibility for the discount program. Neither of you got it.

Reading this thread makes me grateful for my $35 monthly membership. On top of that I pay a dollar per hour.

From open til close, I'm not going to get kicked off during peak hours. The only thing is that there's a waiting list for memberships. They also offer a 65 dollar monthly membership with no hourly rate, and a 25/month membership for two dollars an hour in table time.

Diamond in Fresno costs $35/mth with play til 6 pm......Break Room is $30/mth same terms. ($5 Wed all day).....Classic billiards is $25/mth and unlimited play any time unless the tables are needed for full paying customers.......The Rack charges $5/day unlimited play.........Modesto Diamond....which thank goodness is not affiliated with Fresno Diamond any longer.......seems to offer the best program and terms for pool playing........It never ceases to amaze me how pool room operators remain neantherthal like in their business approach to running their pool rooms in Fresno.
