Pool Halls in Baton Rouge

The welcome mat is always out for you and we'll get some real cajun food. Some of that stuff the chefs in New Orleans are calling cajun doesn't even come close.

Just in case you think you are hungry now, many years ago my best friend, a cajun from Saint Martinville, and I went in the swamp and caught a couple hundred pounds of crawfish. When we got back to his house there were a half-dozen of his aunts there and his grandmother to boot. It quickly became a cooking contest with each lady cooking their favorite crawfish dish. I have never eaten crawfish so many different ways before or since and all of the dishes were great!

Now You're making ME hungry!!!!!
I miss food from back home, but hopefully can at least drive towards Lafayette soon.... I'm hungry. Thanks. LOL

If your insinuating I'm hiding from you?? That's funny I'll never hide not my style..Trashing your thread?? Hows that possible I'm just replying to your comment's...

Dale!
How's Dallas treating you?
How bout we play at....hmmm since I don't know what side of town you're in..... Pocket's on Industrial, JR Pockets in Denton, or Crazy 8's on 121 N on Thursday? 8 pm at whichever you want. If you know of a better spot we can go there. Click's on Marsh? Speeds in Arlington? Rusty's Ft. Worth?
You're call.
Or if you can find your way up to Sherman, we can play some this weekend there.
Or the Billiards Den Friday night. Or.....we can even find a dive bar with barboxes.
Whatever.
I've been working too much and not shooting enough, so take advantage while you can, next week might be slower work and more tables time....

Regardless, You know I can't leave a misplace Colorado boy on his own in Big Bad Texas without coming to say Howdy and hit some balls, right?
Who knows, you might have fun and maybe even win some.
It could happen....

Remy, if you don't stop making me think about my grandma's cooking I'm going to have to meet you around Baton Rouge and hunt down some of MY favorite old places to eat!
ALthough I have some secret spots that will make you jump in the car and drive from Texas just at the thought of what they whip up in there!

let me know if you do

Let me know if you head to Lafayette, it is maybe two hours from me. I used to eat at the original Mulattes. Las's was actually better but I think it is gone now. Regardless, good grub is always easy to find around there. Just north a ways was the best steak I ever found in a restaurant, this side of Raton NM anyway. The Icehouse Restaurant or something like that in an old icehouse in Raton as you would suspect had the best steak this side of anywhere last time I ate there.

All the people on AZB with a hankering for some cajun cooking, we ought to get together. Boil crawfish, roast a pig, who knows? It's all good!

Lafayette has that big bar table tournament April 4 weekend. Someone told me a VERY big gun is going to the tournament.

Again Thank you all for the kind comments and for welcoming me back home. I am looking forward to it and can taste a fully dressed shrimp po'boy already
which I think I can get in Gulfport, Miss when I stop there to visit my son.
Remy, I'd recommend Lil Ray's in Gpt or Long Beach; and Crawfish Hut or Darwell's in Long Beach. I have to admit that the quantity and quality of food is better in New Orleans than in Gulfport. It's just that we have nicer people in Mississippi.

Actually the po'boys aren't too bad at the poolroom, Skeeter's, in Gulfport. You ought to stop by and check out the room. I'm there Tues. afternoons, and either Sat. or Sunday afternoons. Hope to meet you.

Been thinking about it

A cousin of mine owns a bed and breakfast right down the road from Lafayette in Grand Coteau and I have been thinking about going to that tournament and paying the cuz a visit anyway. Seems like I heard a rumor about a big gun gonna show up there too. Might be more than one and I think Hillbilly hits that tourney pretty regularly too. There are a handful of people that can at least keep the very best honest and working on a good day that are sure to be there. Definitely worth the trip if it is possible to make it.

Hey bro it's goo to see you again :)I'm getting pretty hungry with all this talk about Cajun cuisine......yum yum
I don't think our boy is gonna accept our challenges evrything he does is behind the scenes.
Let's take it to The Action Room :grin-devilish: although we both know what he'll say......Lol.
I know you're reading this Dale and I have to ask again:
Do you have a license to import merchandise into the USA?
If you don't the feds are not gonna be too happy you know.

Doc,
I lived in Gulfport for 6 yrs and both of my oldest kids were born there :)
Lil Ray's is the first place I hit when I go visit my daughter in Long Beach, she lives off Hwy 90 in Buena Vista Dr.
I have actually been to Skeeter's a few times, it used to be called Jim Bob's or something right? The last time I was there was Oct 2008 but they shut off the music to put on kick boxing in every TV and it was real loud so we left along with a few other patrons, lol.
I will let know next time I'm in town so that we can have a cup of coffee or something. :)

Respect

With all due respect Mr Wilson, in the past you and Mike warned people that were trashing threads and Snowmon34 not only trashed a clean thread but also deletes all of his posts almost everywhere, that is shady to me. Me and Tony (Remy) have mutual friends in Houston and that was when I the thread was violated with another subject.
Respectfully,

all this posturing and puffing.

Who wants to go home early?

Really tired of the drama between you guys.

Looks like I'll be moving to Baton Rouge, La very soon and was wondering if anyone could provide some info on pool halls/leagues in that area.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't shot in awhile but last I checked there's 1) Big Mikes (bar/tavern), 2) Fox & Hound (Yuppie), 3) Clicks (collage/yuppie),
Rickochets (general), 4) Bayou Billiards and a few other bars, etc.

For food and billiards "Fox & Hound".

Terry

Edit: Think there is a APA and maybe a TAP league.

I have been known to eat a few (thousand) of these myself. I am blessed with quite a strong mudbug fishery just 2 miles from my house.

Crawfish in the Colorado Mountains. Come on. Give me a break.

Dang, been a while since I've had some crawdads. My dad use to own a fishing and archery store. The bait supplier use to save off all the big crawdads for us to boil up.

I know, I wouldn't have believed it myself being from Nebraska. But they are in many of the lakes here, The lake I catch these from is at nearly 8000 ft. They grow large and are very clean, as far as I know I am the only one for a hundred miles that even try to catch them:grin:. I made the trap and modeled it after west coast crab rings. I can catch more then I wish to clean in under a hour with this trap. I use raw antelope or raw elk as a bait.

:o I thought you were going to tell me that you lived in Colorado but travel back home to Louisisna to get your crawfish. I've known that there are crawfish in most states but I didn't know they were in abundance enough to eat, ESPECIALLY in Colorado and now at 8000 feet. You could knock me over with a feather. I'm am totally and pleasantly amazed. :speechless:

JoeyA

I thought he was joking too, lol. I'll bet they don't taste the same though :)
