I've been reading through this thread for the past few days and I just got through all 14 pages so far. The OP, jase1, has some absolute gems for stories. Just thought I'd share because some of you might get a kick out of it too.

I just learned how to hustle, and where & when to post the $$.

Yeah I'm sure there are some exaggerations but isn't there BS in every pool room? Dude's a good storyteller nonetheless. There's some solid action pretty regular around here if you're looking for it too. ATL is full of degenerate gamblers lol.

I would say sounds like true stories to me.

Some stretching of the truth? Maybe, but not more than most of us do :grin:

Too bad he is on a forum with a bunch of non-players. I think he is there because he likes his ego stroked. I think he has been honest about his ego-issues however.

You sure you read this properly Michael?? He said that because of his last name the APA put him in at the highest rating for 8 ball?? Yeah... That and the whole snooker table with no pockets?? I would bet my lifes savings on a game with this self-absorbed twatbag. Its too bad that you have to pay 10 bucks to register for the forum otherwise I would be there right now :frown:
 
The thread is almost 10 years old. I think he said something to the order of, after a few weeks he was raised to a 7("because of his name") without them even having seen him play. He obviously didn't know how rankings even worked. If you play a decent game right at the beginning, your rating can jump real fast. I know somebody that was a 7 in 8b and 4 in 9b for a while because he played decently in 8b to start out, but couldn't get jack going in 9b.

Actually, the thread started in March of this year, and is still going strong to date. Perhaps you're looking at the join dates of the members.

This guy may be a bit of a bullshitter, but nobody can deny he tells a hell of a good story (or forty), and there's no doubt he's shot a good bit of pool. It's rare to find someone who can write this well, in volume, on some random forum. Wouldn't surprise me if his day job involves writing somehow.

If he wrote a book about his adventures, I'd buy it.

I was just there and didn't see any???

Of course I was running packs in tenball on table one at marrieta billiards so that might've been why... and then I woke up... or did I???muuuahhahahahaaaa lol

BTW, the guy was talking about Brumback taking 15K off of Scooter, anybody remember that happening and the when and where of it???

Wow.... This kid is a riot... race to five for 500 and race to ten for ten thousand.... Show me anyone willing to play races that short for that much without a minimum number of sets that have to be played...

Actually, he doesn't. Something Awful forums are renowned for their auto-filter system:

I read that too and thought what the heck? LOL The guy has to be a player or hang out with one alot.He just knows to much about pool and how to hustle to not be,imo.

He is a little confused though as I have never played Scooter,haha.

I think it's very cool and neat that he's kindly explaning how to hustle pool to all those folks that don't play or know alot about pool.He's doing a fine job of filling them in,I think.It's funny to me that alot of non pool player people are very interested in that kind of stuff.He writes good too.John B.

He's confused about a lot of stuff, but as you say, he must hang out with players to know some of the stuff he talks about.

And to be a hustler you really don't have to be the best player, especially going around to dive bars like he describes, a strong B player with some hustlin skills could do fairly well in bars on bar boxes.

My guess is that this guy has had some limited success playing in bars and is embellishing his stories a bit along with using limited ties with some real players and their stories to bolster his standing.
