Pool isn't a Sport?

Fat guys play golf and they call it a sport. I really don't care if its a sport or a game... i love it either way.

For me, a sport is when your opponent/opponents have a direct physical impact on the outcome. In golf, pool, darts and other games when it is your turn, your opponent is powerless and cannot effect your performance during your turn. In baseball, football, hockey etc, your opponent can have a direct physical impact on whether or not you are successful.

My point exactly, when you give the deer a rifle it becomes a sport. I wasn't kidding, I was trying to make a point.

I see....... So Rockem Sockem Robots is a Sport.

Makes sense.

Heck, Howard Hill used recurves well over 100 pound draw. 99% of pool players could never learn to draw the thing, he fired at charging lions.

Anyone thinks archery is just a game ought to check out this guy:

Notice that he doesn't ascribe to the SPF school of thought, either, and he never misses.

Physical exertion /= sport

Plenty of other activies require physical exertion, but are not considered sports ie. bowling, dancing, sex, etc.

Well I'm sure that anyone can come up with a ridiculous exception, case and point above.

So whats your perfect explanation...........

I don't have one. I already ready said its a stupid debate with no practical point.

However, that may be the perfect explanation after all.

:)

If this is a sport.....

1297326832050_ORIGINAL.jpgand it is.

Pool is a sport, doesn't matter how big or small you are.

I guess we are seeing 2 reasons why the definition of "athlete" is not well represented here..:D

Thing is, I'm a big guy too. And I'm pretty athletic for my size as many know, but pool players calling themselves athletes is just a stretch. Can you imagine the balls it would take for Kid Delicious to introduce himself to Kobe Bryant as a "professional athlete".

Call yourself what you want I guess... what ever makes you feel better.
