And thought I would post some nicknames from years ago in a New Jersey pool room.
Mental Mike-he was a little off upstairs.
Guitar Bobby-he played the guitar.
Neptune Joe Frady-he was from Neptune N.J.
Choo choo Larry-a train engineer.
One eyed Mike-self explanatory.
Chicken neck-self explanatory.
Bugs Bunny-protruding front teeth
Mouse-kind of looked like a mouse
Some were not very kind but it was a pool room.

I remember talking to Liscotti many yrs ago. He said he never washed his cloths in his early yrs, made so much money he just threw em out and $$$ more.

Josh “The Pocket” Filler

Used to be several Bubbas around where I live… Bubba 1 hand(because he was GREAT playing one handed)
Daytime Bubba(white guy)
Nighttime Bubba(black guy)

Legendary road hustler Don Edwards was known as both "Waterdog" and "Buffalo Bill" but I can't really say why.

I can't say for certain, but from what I have heard "Waterdog" came from hustling sailors as a teen. I lost a little to him over the years, but held my own.

There were lots of nicknames when I hung at Buffalo's. One of the funnier ones was a guy introducing himself as Bobby Pickle trying to play a set for $1500 with a low level pro. He explained he wasn't THE Bobby Pickle, his name was Bobby and he sold pickles and other bar top food so got Bobby Pickle hung on him.

I had a lot of nicknames. As long as they weren't obviously pool related I was cool with them. I wouldn't tolerate a pool related nickname for the same reason I never played cards with a man named Lucky or Ace!

My peers gave me my nickname yrs ago/Bigfoot.
And Gabby/every time we finished he named me (played 3 times) ''can't beat you SLIM''.

Yrs back someone made fun of my foot size I'm' tall as Michael Jordan .... My pat retort to this shorter man.

Takes better foundation to build a church than a Shit house.
We both laughed.
