Hopefully some knowledgeable people here can answer my question about pool on TV.

How come men's pool gets almost no TV time and almost all of the pool on TV is women's pool? With the exception of trick shots and speed pool, it's almost all women's pool on TV. Why is this?

The women have better cleavage and behinds.

Well nowadays who needs pool on tv ! We got live(ESPN never live)pool streams all over the world and many dvds being produced.

I also think the almighty ESPN wants to be paid by pool to be on TV ! For what? To cut up a set of pool from a big race to a race to 7 loaded with so many commercials thet you don't even see those without games being edited out !

this has been discussed ... a lot, do a quick search and i'm sure you'll find all the lengthy arguments and explanations.

it boils down to the partnerships that exist between the women's tour and the men's; or rather, the lack of partnership with any of the men's tour. the WPBA have a formal agreement with ESPN.

Essentially, the women have a tour (such as it is). They have a deal with ESPN. I've heard the deal is basically that the WPBA gives the TV rights to ESPN for free or next to nothing, so ESPN essentially gets cheap programming to put up, which makes it an attractive proposition to the network.

I don't know how the ad revenue is divvied up.

I agree. I rarely ever watch ESPN pool any more. I don't like the editing of the matches and the commentary is usually horrible there. I've got a big collection of DVDs and youtube and streaming video that are a lot better than the crap coverage ESPN provides.

Read pool wars. Jay gives alot of background as to how we got where
we are today. It's alot of things.
