Pool products

What pool products have helped your game?

Sometimes on the rare occasion that I'm not holding a cold beer whilst playing pool, my hands sweat which is problematic. I'm not fond of the glove, but I did find that these finger slides work great. Much more comfortable than a glove and they retain the tactile sense allowing you to feel the table.

I call them my finger thongs...

Ridgeback Rails on my Valley. The rails plus good cloth and 4" pockets makes the Valley play very close to a Diamond. You must hit the pocket clean. No more hitting the rail inches from the pocket and making the ball...at any speed. Johnnyt

My slip on cue extension gets my vote. I'd rather stretch or use the extension. I can't even remember the last time I even used a bridge!

Best,
Mike

pool glasses

I just got them & competed last night.

I feel that they facilitated my concentration & eye movement from CB to OB.

Improved consistency of cut shots too.

They are certainly constructed to stay firmly in place.

I use two tools:
1) A Tweeten Metal Tip Trimmer (to shape the cue tip). Note - Use 120 grit sandpaper only. It works just as well as the 60 grit (that comes with the Trimmer) and makes it easy to control the trimmer until the tip is the right shape.

When using this tool, I hold the shaft in my left hand, near the tip, and rotate the cue a few degrees while using one left and right stroke with my right hand. I then rotate the cue a little more, then give the tip a left and right stroke with the Trimmer. In less than a minute, you'll have a properly shaped tip.

2) A Cuetec Bowtie to roughen the tip once it's been properly shaped.

Using these two tools will help maintain chalk retention and provide a good feel.

Note: I like Triumph (standard) medium tips. They're a little hard, but are easy to shape and last a long time.

on the advice of my instructor, i purchased a wrist "ace bandage sort of thing" to keep my wrist from curling in just before the impact of the cue.....got it from walmart of coarse..they are available from the internet pool supply houses for $20 but i did not want to wait on delivery...it is for having a sprain in your wrist. not a permanent thing....only practice for a couple of weeks to give my muscle memory a chance to dial it in. it improved my game 40-50% the first day!
