Hey, new to this site. Wanted to finally post up. I think you guys would appreciate something I finished recently. Still under construction but....
I started this project with the removal of the dreaded basement lally column.
For one reason only... to get rid of ALL obstructions for the table! No 4' stick spot at this house!
I then realized I can fit a 9' table! woo hoo! So I'm working towards that!
Lot's of digging and concrete later I'm finally studding out. Hopefully done this summer. I'm looking at that Diamond Paragon. We'll see.
(Most of the hanging wires are from the prev. owner's "finished" basement)

I really like reading and seeing this stuff but can you post larger pictures, I am seeing postage stamp size pictures.
 
Hey, 9andout, I wish you many happy times building your room. Enjoy the project and the time you spend designing it and shopping for materials and supplies. If I could give you a word of advice, motivation and determination not only come from visualizing the end product, but finding joy in the work itself.

Didn't want to take up too much space lol (not till the good ones!) You can click to enlarge them some.

I hate digging especially!! But it had to be done! lol Have some younger brothers that helped carry the channel beams in. Found out my F-150 could handle 3,500 lbs. of dirt / rock! Couldn't believe it weighed that much.

Couple new pics. nothing special but heading in the right direction..lol Tyroc subfloor down wood going up. This pic is of the future table area.

Had to get a little creative around this pole and the channel iron and top plates. The 2x4 isn't really correct but doing the corner this was saves a precious 2" (1 1/2" instead of 3 1/2") at the pole spot and blends with the beam box out which was turned flat to also keep it smaller. (got a top pc. in that return too so it's solid.)

Maximizing space for sure. Time to get rid of the old wiring and get the new stuff run!! Sure is getting crowded in the unfinished area! ha
 
lol @ McNabb sucks.... :thumbup:

I have a lolly column in my basement.... Not a day goes by I don't wish I could rip it out....

My brother wrote that but the feeling was mutual!!

It took a move to another house for me to get to rip a column out! lol
 
Coming along nicely. I used a steel beam span in a house built in TN in 1988 and the beam size was determined
by an engineer while drawing up the house plan. Also framed around the vertical supports so they were hidden
when the drywall went up - similar to what you're doing. Great to not have poles to deal with in the basement.

I didn't see where you mentioned it so wondering how you determined the beam size to use?

Also are you tapping the HVAC for service into the room?

Yeah Engineer sized it up.

Okay took me a while to get these pics up I know!
Did manage to get done for last years Superbowl. Nothing hanging on the walls in these pics.

I'm going to be a more regular visitor to this site. Everyone on here seems great and all the info is awesome!!
This was the vision I had when we bought this house in 2004. Had to do the upstairs first. My new favorite spot was a long time coming.
It's nice to play with no worries of the cue hitting a wall. OR COLUMN! haha

I like to say......"Pro table, pro light, pro balls and cloth. Just need those PRO SKILLS!!!
