Hey Dog, Wonderboy doesn't bother me a bit. He's got all the action he can handle right here. His 23 post tells me he can't play a lick. If I am lucky he doesn't live to far away. I was playing in the type of pool halls he is talking about 45 years ago when he was still crapping yellow if he was even born.:eek: Can't even spell Gomer right!

I don't' want to pick on a small few, who have opinions I respect, but these so called "real pool halls" with the atmosphere like "Ames" had in the movie "The Hustler" are not going to make it. They seem to believe that people would be lining up around the corner to get it.

Obviously, this is not the case. And if some of you old timers don't think so, put some of your nest egg money up for investment so open the "Ames" of your dreams, and report back to us how much money you are raking in.

BTW, I would love to play at "Ames" and think Straight pool is king when it comes to reveling a players skill and knowledge.

Straight pool is my best game. I was a 100 ball runner when being 16.

I do have a plan for the very best pool room in the country that would make the investors millions no matter if the pool room made it or not.

A strip mall,, a mini mall.. Purchasing the land and developing that land into a set of mini malls. Pre qualifing tenents before submittiing plan. Targeting tennents like UPS/fedex/USPS,,, etc etc etc... Build to suit.. I have that experience. I was a project super and worked for large land developers..

Anyway Purchase/develope/build/lease out retail/offiice space in a marketed researched project in an area that has a past proven positive growth of a projected percentage set by the marketed research team.

Get commited tennents before plans are submitted. Build to suit.

Build the best pool room in the country.. Thats a plan that if completed within budget would be basically a fool proof way or making 10's of milliions in equity growth and future wealth all while housiing the country's best pool room. Too much to write about.

I dont care who you are... That's Funny! Looking at my post count that would mean if I show up in DC I automatically get the 6 and the last 4, or 12 to 4 in one hole. I was out the door but my wife grabbed me and said it was too close to X-mas to drive to DC :D

No harm intended, just found the correlation between post count and ability to play was hilarious.

There actually is an alternative, you run two pool rooms under the same roof. I go to a place that from the time it opens in the morning plays quiet music and caters to the serious player. They have top equipment as well as billiard tables. But at night when the clientele changes they cater to the other crowd. The problem is if you are a regular working guy you can't play in the day time. It does work for this place though they have some of the best day business I have ever seen in a pool room. many of the guys are wealthy and the TV's are tuned to CNN, MSNBC or a channel that covers the financial stuff. A couple of these guy look like they run their businesses from a cell phone at the billiard table. You need an owner that recognizes who his customers are and how to possibly cater to all of them if he can. I was in a room not long ago that was actually playing rap music on the jukebox with MF like every other word. My wife and I are not prudes but we just left. I don't know what they were thinking most of the people in the place were more like us and just a few in the place were playing that stuff on the jukebox, why would it be on there in the first place?

The differance between you and me Scottster is that I read his 23 post. It was not the count but the content I was refering to. I didn't just get off the paper boat son. I'll meet ya half way after Christmas if you would like to play some. No harm taken.

Thats exactly what I'm talkiing about. The only possible time to play is in the day time and most of the players work in the day time..

So, it is as simple as building a wall and putting some tables behind it. How many tables you gonna put back there? I do know this, that wall means an extra employee on the clock each day to the tune of $2500 per month.
How about ideas from someone that actually owns a business?

I have mentioned before and do so again, tell the owners about internet jukeboxes, customers can still play rap but you can block out all cuss words on your jukebox as well as any thing you do not want.

Get out and travel, there are many great pool rooms around the country and in this day and age they are catering to both and successfully I might add. Quit living in the past and join the present. My room has a private room separated from the rest, come and play me. Your travel expenses areeprobably too much for you since you can't obviously afford your own AMES room.

I have a seperate room with 2 gold crown 4's. I do not pay a dime for extra help. That would not be good business. Take it from a business owner. Check it out at fasteddysbilliards.com
