Pool tournament@Casino= Warning!!

I am curious how the cops gained access to the car. Did they have probable cause? Did the owner give consent? Did the cops have a warrant?

My opinion is that whatever a camera saw wouldn't be probably cause. For example, somebody could be smoking tobacco out of a pipe in a car. Now if the cops smelled pot that would be probable cause.

This is hard to relate to since I live in Colorado  however at the VNEA regionals in Loveland they've really cracked down, lots of security, and that was just a hotel / convention.
Many DUI arrests from people drinking in their cars, and strict warnings from the league.

I only know a few details about this. The camera was brought up ,and they said they seen some things in their car,,in detail. Not sure about how it went down after that.
At night,,well lit lot.( Huge parking lot BTW.)
I don't think there was a warrant,,lol. Happened with in minutes of them walking out.

If I recall, the Indians shared their peace pipe with the white man.

It probably wasn't their first trip to the car and had previously been noticed by security

I worked in our casino surveillance department for some years as a surveillance agent. you will be surprised how good the cameras are. from the casino building to the parking lot and in to the car , pitch black out, no problem. most properties are posted with signs that say, this property is monitored by surveillance cameras. any suspicious activity on private property /casino property is cause for a person to be approached , questioned and even searched by casino security, local police or tribal police are usually called when I comes to entering a person vehicle. but if casino security or agents tell the police what they saw it then becomes pc.

Hmmm?? Maybe you should start warning the players that they are being,,"Spied on"" while they are in the parking lot.
I have never heard of any place that is like this. With cameras powerful enough to tell what kind of cigarette you are smoking. Or as you open the glove box,,they are looking for something illegal....

this has bothered me since you posted it. cause it's BS - it's called ENTRAPMENT. regardless of what one is doing/not doing. and apparently it's reality.

thank you again, for the thread.

I have a friend that goes to the pool room here who used to be a DEA agent. He said they could fly 1500 - 2000 feet above your vehicle in a chopper and read a cigarette pack on your dash.....while you're going 70 mph.

We had a camera in the back of our club that recorded ALL license plates that came or went 24 hours a day.....casinos have the same technology and probably more. They will give this information to law enforcement on occasion, and will help police look for certain criminals by sharing this info......this isn't a standard practice, but definitely happens if they are looking for someone that has been identified at the casino.....or in the area.

I worked in R&D for a major company based in Minnesota, sometime around the year 1998, the government declassified a chip that had the capabilities of photographing a nickel on the ground from a satellite. We tried to use this same chip to detect bacteria by its natural fluorescent properties of NADH, a molecule used in respiration. The technology that exists today is amazing. Who knows what technology is out there that is not available to the public.

On reservations it isn't tribal law you have to worry about but Federal law which who has jurisdiction on tribal lands, national parks and the District of Columbia. With a 98% conviction rate that is who I would be worried about, even if it were in a "pot" friendly state they could still legally prosecute you under the Federal guidelines:
First Offense: Not more than 5 yrs. Fine not more than $250,000, $1 million if other than an individual.

Even with all this technology cases of serious crime go on without anyone ever being caught. The location & quality of the surveillance equipment seems to be the key. The case of Mike Surber is one that comes to mind off the tip of my head. I'd guess that many pool establishments have little or no security cameras in their parking lots, casinos are another world in comparison. Personally I have always been super cautious when leaving pool halls and have walked gals to their cars. I normally do not like to walk out alone either, I'll wait till I see others heading out and go with them. It's called situational awareness and can save your life!

All kinds of things wrong with this post.

There are signs which state area under surveillance.
If the camera spotted something in the car, be a little smarter next time and put it in the glove box.
Do you have any idea how many arrests there are each year where someone gets pulled over for a seatbelt or speeding and they leave a roach in the ashtray, which is PC to inventory the car.

With all the cameras around, you couldn't pay me to do anything illegal knowing it would be on tape. The urge is so strong to smoke, get a smoking room and do it there. There are no cameras in the rooms. Or go off property to anywhere but where you are at.

I can't say if all Casinos are the same,,but here in Michigan. I am convinced!!

I'll get right to it.

They have HD cameras in the parking lot. I am told ,,can read the serial number off a dollar bill!! Or if you are rolling a joint on a open book,,,they can read the book!!!

A few of my friends were just recently busted. Surrounded by cops ,,out of the blue!! And were told some very precise details about what was in their truck!!
They went to jail for a few hours,,but made it back for the tournament after bonding out,,, for crumbs found.
Im not going to get into the details of what happened with them.
But after this happened,,,many people started telling these stories about these cameras!!
And I did a search on the internet and found a few stories, stating this same thing about these cameras.

The tribal police do not play about this and are in bed with the local police about it all.

You go on a public forum, looking for support and you type this;

"Im not going to get into the details of what happened with them."

You lost my support after that line.

I lost your support,,wow,,why is that?? I'm not looking for support from anyone anyhow! lol

This thread is not about their case,,,and they do have a charge against them as of now. And besides I dont really know much more.

This thread is about these cameras.

Then get off the thread!!! I see allot of things wrong with your response!! LMAO

Have some fun...go to the casino and pretend to "do something illegal" (better make sure you aren't) and see what happens. The worse thing that can happen is nothing but getting harassed, the best thing is they harass you too much and you sue them and win a portion of the casino......and the cameras. ;)

Disclaimer ---

This is a joke, only a joke, don't try this at home folks. :D

Yeah, that's a great idea. Why not make believe you are robbing someone at gun point with a plastic gun. Ha ha .... that's a riot.

Maybe they'll blow your f%&#ing dumb head off. Wouldn't that be hilarious? Hahaha......

If you're worried about getting caught doing something illegal, I think you're the problem, not the cameras.

This is a perfect example of how twisted some people's logic is. Imagine the nerve of them catching you.

I KNOW! Or DID KNOW...SOME of it! MANY years ago, I "indirectly" worked for NSA and I COULDN'T believe that WHAT I SAW. Most of their technology was SO FAR AHEAD of what was known or AVAILABLE to the public that it could be considered light years apart.

Without going into detail, I can assure you that camera technology back in the 70s was able to provide photographs of "objects" on the ground from a SR-71 flying almost outside of the atmosphere at Mach 3+. The size of the "objects" being able to be seen and identified is getting increasing smaller as technology improves. If we could identify a golf ball on the ground at some point, what could we identify several or MANY years later?

How about if we can do it at night, through the clouds?

Food for thought.

Casinos are definitely in with the local government. They got that big money make the state do whatever they say. We know all to well in Indiana they have developed their own "gaming control" agency compromised of mostly retired cops who strictly try to bust illegal gambling. They don't want people betting a quarter unless it's in a casino. Lots of bars and taverns closed few years back when they threatened them with 5,000 fines and felonies for poker tournaments and/or poker machines.

They don't want to hurt their image for sure. Nothing ever makes the news. Guy told me 4 people jumped off bridge into the Mississippi River over in St Louis recently. Also, they let proceeds from illegal activity go right into their pockets before they give the dope man up. I heard a story from a dealer recently told me they let a dope dealer stay in business for quite sometime until he blew a million. Then they gave him up to local authorities.

This thread is just plain stupid. You are on their property, and they can use cameras any where they want. What, are you new to casinos and did not know they have cameras every where. They are protecting their company, and if they do not want illegal drugs on their property, good for them, I hope your buddies pay up the whazzo.

All they need is for some bad drug deal to go down or something else bad, and the little old ladies from the Bingo Club don't show up to play slots anymore.

Meanwhile, you are worried about a Casino spying on you but not the current administration ??? hello, lights are on, but nobody is home !

Einsteins theory of Pool+Casinos=busted and disgusted was spot on. The worst thing for pool other than shady promoters is having a tournament at a casino. It's easy to say this and that about how there's no place else to play and people are just trying to do something for the sport, save it because the majority of the pool population see right through it. Casinos are way more than willing to have pool tournaments and coddle up to the people putting them on because the majority of pool players gamble. They know there is a chance better than the sun coming up tomorrow that if a pool player makes any kind of score they are gonna let the slots or table games relieve them of some of it...or all of it.

Oh well, it is what it is

indian reservations have big problems from drinking and drugs. they are very aggressive against outsiders bringing in drugs or contributing to their use.
it has nothing to do with them wanting people do be impaired so they lose more money.
yes they have cameras almost everywhere in all casinos. and they will and are obligated to turn you in if they see an illegal activity. like it or not.

The casinos pay the surveillance ops less to nothing, so these guys had nothing else to do so they decided to bust these guys for smoking pot for no reason, they wanted to burn one themselves and couldnt so they decided that these guys couldnt do it either.
Do me a favor, all the people here that seem to know something about the eye, let me know how many mistakes that the eye catches on dice or the wheel.
I would like to hear something about this, lol.
