Pool Wars by Jay Helfert

Hey Lad, I'm fine, how are you.

Were we at Johnny and Earls pool school in Sturtevant together?

Dave
Exactly, and if I remember right you helped us getting the word out for the school. I can't wait to come back to Sturtevant, We really enjoyed ourselves there. A great crowd for the exhibition too. Hopefully September we will be back. Say hi to everyone for us and tell JR at Boomers to save his pennies as I will be calling him before too long :)

I just got done reading it. I don't have the patience to read many books, but I couldn't put this one down.

I had no idea that basically Jay spent his entire life in the pool scene one way or another, either staking, playing, owning pool rooms, or promoting. What a pool bio. He was there for everything, from the Color of Money to Earl's million dollar run of 11 racks.

Wow, Jay - damn, that was a fun read. Reading about Brooklyn Butch and Crazy Bruce brought back a lot of old memories. Butch is still arouund - I ran into him a few years ago at the Plush Pocket, a little more mellow but still Butch!

Hey Jay, I just wanted to tell you a friend bought Ronnie Barber a copy of your book. Ronnie is still schooling people in the fine art of squeezing at 1-P up here in Petaluma, CA.

Chris Mcdonald probably has seen your book and the section about him by now too I'd guess.

Your books are on the way via Priority Mail. It's a new concept! Look out your door today and tell me what you see.

Great:One for me, one for my son Ken, one for my arch rival Half-fast Larry and one for the public library if they will promose to catalog it.

It's nice to see a few of us "old" guys who can still make a ball or two. :)

Curses upon you Jay Helfert. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits, eyesbrows, even up unto your anus. I am an old man and need my rest. My normal bedtime is 6:30, but today the poney express rider delivered unto me your book. Naturally, as is my bent when presented with a book, I sat down and read it. All of it. It is now way past my bedtime and who knows if I will be able to sleep with visions of pool balls and stacks of $100.00 bills running through my tortured brain.

Jay, I just finished reading your book and it is definitely a winner. You are one of the few who has made a successful life in the world of pool and I congratulate you! Oh, the pics were great!
