Porper Lathe on Ebay

I'd like to get one but at that price I may as well just save up the extra grand and buy a new one. Thanks for the heads up though :)

Kinda what i was thinking, i bet by the time you get it dialed in, you probably would've spent less on the new one..........

I just looked at it again now that I am on my computer. The shipping is almost $500.!!!! Holy crap. Here is what it says to my Zip Code

Shipping & Handling: $468.98

Thats crazy cause it cost me half that to have the Deluxe shipped to Canada. That and quite a few other boxes too.

This morning the lathe was $2900 starting bid, Now it's $5000.
A new one is $4200. And the shipping is a joke at $498 and it's
less than 6 hour from me!

Thats just stupid. Shame I'm not a Billionaire. I'd buy it just so I could leave him negative Feedback.

For that money for a used one it should come with alot more than it is listed with. Just my 2 cents.

For what he's asking for this Porper,a potential buyer would be WAY better off to go talk to everyone he knows, come up with another 3k,and go after the most coveted American lathe available for cue work, the venerable Clausing 5914.

There is a NICE one on Ebay with a bunch of tooling but no readout, for just under 8k,but you'd have to go to Baltimore to get it. Tommy D.

Auction ended, 0 Bids.

I guess he has an idea of how much it isn't worth now.

You know what I think happened. He got a private offer, bumped the price way up and told the guy he had to wait until after the auction ended. If it sold, bonus. Then sold it privately. Have no idea if thats true but seems reasonable and I haven't seen it relisted. Then again I may be wrong and he's just a goof that thinks he could have suckered someone out of $5k

You're most likely right Brup. I have only sold a few odds and ends on EBay so not an experienced seller.
