The 1940s Brunswick master stroke showin in the picture on ebay is the exact same picture found on Billiardcue.com

I would report it on ebay but I don't have an ebay account anymore......

There are some possible explanations. Maybe he saw it on Billiardcue for a fixed price and thinks it's undervalued and wants to hedge his bet before buying it or is short on capital? If someone bids on E-Bay he will then buy it and turn it at a profit. I wouldn't call that kind of thing a scam. Except for the bullshit story which could also be true. Maybe Billiardcue.com is consigning it for him and he decided to try E bay? Some would call it good business. I have an E bay account and asked him the question why he's selling a cue for sale elsewhere. If he responds I will let you know his story. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion it's a scam yet.

Are you saying that putting a cue up for auction that you don't actually own is not a scam?

I could see how it could work out and if something went wrong as long as you didn't steal the bidders money..........Sorry it got sold. Stock was low. It's on back order. Take your pick. Weasely, sure, but I wouldn't consider it criminal. The stock market calls it selling short and it's perfectly fine there.

Why is it always me when theres an ebay scam?????? LOL

OK Guys, Its Me again and Yes The picture of the 1940's Brunswick master stroke DID come from the Cornerstone custom cues website. I snipped the picture because my own digital camera decided to crap on me. The cue for sale on ebay is my auction listing and its not a scam. The cue is in pristine shape and Tony at tiger products actually installed the tip and cleaned the cue up for me prior to the ebay listing.I think its great that we all have someone watching our backs when it comes to possible scams......I just wish it wasn't always my listings in question,LOL ...If any of you remember the whole Prewitt conversion debate, that too was my ebay listing and I hope that the majority of azers also seen my sincere apology thread to Ed Prewitt and everyone here at az forums when I found out directly from ED that the conversion was NOT his as I first believed. I never realized that by doing a screen shot of an identical cue as the one I have at auction would be so scrutinized...But as I said and truly believe" Its nice to know that we all have each other to watch our backs when it comes to scammers". I never meant to be misleading by posting that picture.. it was the easiest way to get the auction started until i can get my camera up and running. The cue that I have for sale is identical to the one pictured and in awesome shape. Forgive me for being a Green horn when it comes to things like this but I'm learning as I go. I am new to the forums.

IIUC - Billiardcue works that way - owners of cues often consignment
them to Dick. FWIW - $550 will prolly keep all the rif raf out of this one.

and what happens to you when you sell short but the stock price never goes down???

I sent him a message via ebay, asking why his picture is the exact one listed at billiardcues.com. We'll see if he answers.

BTW, the seller has 11 "positive" feedbacks but they are all from sellers; no buyers.

...and those purchases are spread out over a year also one of them was for around 200 bucks. A lot of trouble to go through if the intention was to set up an account to run a scam.

Not to say that he could have just arbitrarily decided to do something.

Here was his answer to me on E-bay

Yes it is the same photo as you stated. I am new to all this and I do have the brunswick as shown in the listing and it is in pristine condition...My digital camera on the other hand,, is not. I will be getting the camera back the first of the week and I will certainly post some pics of the actual cue that i have in my possession. you wont be able to tell a difference between the two except for the quality of the pictures. I had no idea that I would start such a commotion by taking a snippit for the auction from another site. I will not be doing that again EVER.. please stand by and you will see that this is not a scam...just poor judgement on my part....sorry to all

I see what your saying about it could be a cue that's on consignment to billiardcue.com BUT the fact is that billiardcue.com has had that cue for sale for I don't know how many years.....I been seeing it forever, so the idea of it being his cue is fishy at best.

I figured out my password and mailed the seller and he said I was wrong that he's got the cue. That he is going to take pics. Well brother if you got the cue and have a camera why did you use billiardcue.coms picture?

I wouldn't buy the cue with you guys/gals money lol

Well guys, Im battin a thousand so far..Ive had 2 auctions and 2 possible scam threads. Listen...Im sorry that I used a snippit for that auction but my camera is being repaired and that was the only picture i could find of the cue, not to mention that I didnt know that doing so is highly frowned upon. I figuered here is a picture of the cue I have to sell and I havent got my camera back yet so I will use this one until then.. BIG MISTAKE..I know. I am not a scam artist and I am not trying to defraud any of you or mis represent the cue. I have the cue, its in awesome shape, and I have learned another lesson about posting pics on ebay. If your actually interested in the cue please stand by and i will get actual pics of the cue i have for sale...If you just like to talk about how stupid some people are....well... Looks like Im your man...Have a laugh cause i got a sense of humor too.... and i deserve it.

People use "stock" photos all the time. You just have tread a little more carefully when you deal with collectables as each item's value is extremely condition and appearance sensitive.

...and believe me the pool world people are some of the most difficult group of collectors to deal with.

I've had to write extensive disclaimers on my ebay listings when it comes to pool cues because some of these people are almost impossible to deal with.

I once listed a cue as "unknown" I got more threatening PM's than you could imagine.

If its all just an honest mistake I would highly advise you to end your listing and redo it with actual pictures. It will certainly lend to your credibility and probably earn you higher bids.

Good luck.

heres what you do from now on leo......

take a picture of what ever your selling in front of todays or a recent newspaper so some one can see the date and the product

If you got the cue then sweet, sorry for busting your bawls but especially with pool cues there's a scammer around every corner it seems on the net. Just looking out for one another on here like we been doing since this place started is all.

Best wishes,
GG

It's called drop shipping.
Almost all huge stores on ebay do that.

You mean they find an item on the internet that someone else is selling, and then without that person's knowledge they put the item up for sale on eBay?

No he means they post a stock photo from the distributor. Then sells the items, collect the money and forwards a fulfillment list to the distributor which then ships the items.

Thanks for your words of wisdom and I will take your suggestions to heart. sorry about the confusion and if any of you can remember my first possible scam thread involving a conversion cue I was told Ed Prewitt built, You will also remember a formal apology I submitted after learning that the conversion was not a prewitt. I have had my fair share of mistakes for sure but one thing you can count on is my willingness to apologize when I make a mistake.......and there is no such thing as bad publicity...I have only posted twice on ebay but have had more people talkin about me than many of the vetrans to this site...I will never be the one that scams you fine people its just not my nature. Thanks to all of you that are lookin out for the real scammers and keepin it real here on the forums..
