Post Mottey and White cue photos and stories

known this Cue long time

This cue is dated the day I turned 50.

The Centennial case used to belong to Diamond Bill Cress of
Pleasant Hill, PA ... a suburb of Pittsburgh. I grew up outside
of Pittsburgh, so I wanted my birthday cue to be made by a
Pittsburgh cue maker.

Paul did not have the scrimshaw work done when he shipped me
me the cue, so he sent the joint protector to me to mark it where
I wanted it to align.

I marked it to align with his signature, which made sense to me.

He told me that he had wished I had never talked him into that
joint protector and he would never make another one like it.

Now that he is retired, the above statement has proven true.

This cue is also allergic to any game that is not one pocket.

March 2004 Mottey

I just thought I would post some pic's of my Mottey. The story is cool to me. I was with chrisonline at the SBE in 2004 when Paul walked up to a friends booth and handed chrisonline about 1 dozen new Motteys. Chrisonline bought this cue as we both fell in love with it and he vowed that day he would never sell it. Well he needed a new car last year and it is mine all mine!!!!!!!! LOL The cue has 2 shafts 1 has never hit a ball and the other has minimal use as I use the 3rd non matching Mottey shaft in the one pic as I like 12.75 Well here are the Pic's:

Here are some pictures of Paul hitting balls on his shop table and 2 of my favorite Mottey cues that I used to own (I wish I still owned them!).

I was eyeing that top one at SBE last week, but never pulled the trigger. Beautiful cue.

hey Scott.. just curious.. since i didnt make it down to valley forge this year.. which also really stinks.. but what were they asking for that particular mottey?

Personally, I love working with Jim. I like doing cues with twists and with my brains and his hands lol, we have designed some pretty sporty cues.

I love the Model J in ivory.. known as the Ivory J

Him and I did a black/red/black/natural cue with props, rings and other inlays...

We did a South West style cue with classic Bushka / Boti colors...

And a few others that always turn heads. He is a class act to deal with and I never had any problems.

Paul Mottey, was the same way. Early on in working with Mark I got to see Paul's genius, in both his own designs and his mastery of the legends.

I think that the lazy s peacock mottey is now in my stable if this is indeed a one of a kind :)

Here are the two that I have had over time. I liked the little fancier a lot for the same reason I like many in this thread: for the simple, elegant, bespoke design, it really was in a class of its own here in Hungary. And it played real good as well.
