I am in the finishing stages of getting my basement ready for a table. Please post pictures of your home pool rooms so I can steal some good decorating ideas. When my room is finished next month I will post some pictures. Thanks

Well I have pictures some where on this forum. I transferred my attic into a living space, who am I kinding, I transferred it to a pool room, with the added benefit of raising my property value. I was about 90% finished with the room when I posted the pics. But the room has been put into construction mode once again and I am finally putting on the finishing touches. I will definately be posting pics when finished, hopefully before summers over. Good luck with your project...! :)

I'll have to get some pictures together, but I decorated my home poolroom with an african theme. Zebra rug (fake), wildlife pictures, turtle shells, snake skins and the focal point is a valter morais print of a tiger with the 9 ball in it's mouth. I decided on this theme because I'm a theme decorator and I already own a 14 table poolroom. I just didn't want a bar type atmosphere in my home since I already have that. If I can figure out how to get photos up to az I will.

If I posted pictures of our room...you'd probably get from them decorating ideas such as:

Three or four non-working video slot machines
An excess of tools and scrap metal
A few dirtbikes/motorcycles in various states of disrepair
An disassembled barbox laying in the corner
A broken washing machine
A dirty refridgerator
One working TV, one non-working TV
A few bench seats pulled from a 15-person van
A dedicated PC running SnookerBase

Actually, I just realized that my avatar is a pic of our dirty, disheveled pool room. I wouldn't spend a minute of my free time in there if it weren't for the 10x5 snooker table with 2.25" balls...and some days I miss so many shots on that damn thing, I feel like I *still* don't ever want to shoot in there again. But, wow, 4.5 pockets certainly look like buckets after some long sessions on the snooker table!!

Here are pictures of my room, it is still a work in progress... I took these with my cell phone- I apologize for the poor quality.

I understand why the guy in the bottom pic is one of your favorites but why Cicero? You've seen so many of the greats play, what makes him stand out to you to make him one of your favorites? Just curious.

Everything I know about pool, everything I have done with pool - I owe all of that to Cisero Murphy. He was my mentor, my friend, and IMO one of the greatest straight pool players of all time.

Well, it wasn't easy. I had the pool table in my garage and decided I would really rather have a snooker table as I love snooker. I figured that I could always play pool on the snooker table as well. My daughter said she would buy the pool table so my wife said go for it. I found the snooker table for $900 and started restoring it. About a month later, my daughter had a stroke and decided not to buy the pool table. A few months went by while I tried to figure out what to do. Then my employer offered me a voluntary severance package. My boss basically told me that after my mandatory six months off, they would hire me back. I took the severance package and used some of the money and my time off to build another garage and turn the existing garage into square footage for the house. The original plan was to leave the pool table in the existing garage and put the snooker table out in the new garage. However, my wife's van quit working and I needed a commute vehicle that got better mileage than my F-150. My wife persistently steered us into a Corvette convertible. Now I needed a place to park the Corvette. Damn the luck. So both tables ended up in the new garage. I have to jack up a little or use a shorter cue than my 60" shooter for rail shots on both tables, but it's a small price to pay for having the best of both worlds. Having the snooker table now for about three months has really improved my ability and consistency. I love playing 8-ball or 9-ball with the big balls on the snooker table but it makes it tough to run racks, so I move to the pool table when I want to feel confident. Plus I get to play snooker whenever I want. It's so much fun it seems like it should be illegal. Add to that the fact that I love driving as much or more than playing pool and I feel like the luckiest/happiest guy on the planet sometimes.

Here is an updated pic. I don't know why it came out so dark. There are some unbelievable ones in this previous thread. Check them out.

Hambone - that is a nice setup. Look forward to seeing once all the little xtras are in place. What finish is that on the Diamond Pro?
Looks good.

The rails are rosewood dymondwood. I belive the side skirts are oak with a cherry stain. I got a heckuva deal on the table from a bowling alley/pool hall in Atlanta. Table and light for $2500 bucks.

Here is a closer pic.

Hey Mike
Whats up with the map on the wall? Any special purpose?

In a pool room once I saw a big world map on the wall. Locals that went
elsewhere(usually far away places) would take pictures of themselves playing pool there and put the pictures next to the map. Then with a pushpin they would use string to connect the picture with the location.
I thought it was pretty cool. Some of the locals had played pool in
some really exotic locales.

Here's a pic of my basement poolroom-
