Practicing at home without a table?

I've heard of the bottle method to practice a strait stroke, but are there any other ways to practice at home without a pool table?

I only get out to the bar once or twice a week, and usually for competition, so not a lot of time to practice.

forget the bottle and just pratice stroking straight to a particular point. Just try and reach out and touch that point with your tip. You can place a piece of tape to represent the edge of the CB.

Remember to use a full stroking motion. You drop into the stance, and once your done aiming and warming up you set your cue to the line, Pull back the cue with a slight pause at the end of the backswing and then deliver the forward stroke and you don't stop the delivery....the delivery is stopped by the hand hitting the chest. Your chest stops your hand ALWAYS.

You can also pratice keeping your grip loose, and your wrist square. When you grip the cue, you should be able to slide it back and forth freely with your other hand. If it doesn't slide easy then your gripping to tight.

At the finish of a complete stroke with a loose grip your top knuckle should be pointed to the ceiling, and the pinkie knuckle should be pointed at the ground(PIC #1). Just like in the photo. If the knuckles are flat then the grip is too tight, and your dropping your elbow.(pic #2)

If your wrist is cocked then just point your thumb straight down and that will fix your problem for a crooked wrist, and also helps to reduce grip pressure. (pic #3)

Don't neglect the body. You can do some squats and core exercises at home to strengthen your base and improve your endurance. When you become fatigued your game will suffer. Keep exercising and you will be able to last longer.

You can practice everything you do in your routine. Stance, bridges, grip, ball address, pendulum stroke, eye pattern, SPF. The whole back half of the game.

And yeah, throw away that bottle. Why spend a lot of time trying to master a complicated and error prone stroke when a simple pendulum stroke is accurate, consistent, and easy to learn and master.
