Predator 9-ball Tour, New York

Played some at Eastside on Thursday. Told the bartender I wanted small action and he found a guy and we played some cheap sets. I lost 7-2, won 7-3 then lost 7-6

Went to Amsterdam last night, had a scheduled session with Jennifer Barretta, and also said hi to Steve Lipsky. Had a lot of good rolls vs Jen and won 9-8 & 9-7.

At the Predator Tour now, played some games while waiting to register, and are now told that I have to play in the Open-category. Sucks, 3 hours waiting, higher entryfee and stiffer competition, but hopefully I can beat one of the pros...

Raxx is a cool poolroom, 30 tables, sportsbar etc

Beat one of the pros??? WTH? That's it! I want a big handicap from you when we play one pocket.

well, you're no B player my friend... :)

Yah! I didn't know he could break and run three consecutive racks.

Obviously, he will have to give me a big handicap no matter what game we play.

His stroke is awesome and the way he plays shape is indescribable. I had better start looking for a stake horse if I play Roy, even with a good handicap.

Thanks for the link and putting Roy's business in the street. You saved me a lot of money. I owe you one.

Haha, love you guys

You should go play that AZBer from Skyline Billiards in Brooklyn. He likes to gamble and I don't think he is a world beater but he might be a good game for you although I have never seen him hit a ball. He is the owner of the poolroom if I am not mistaken, so his money grows on trees and you won't have to worry about any trouble (I'm guessing)...

I'm sorry, I forgot his name but he posts regularly on AZ.

Good luck and please send me back a report.

AZB Action

Obviously Roy is getting the "visitor" treatment and will get spanked by the big boys.

Does any AZBer in New York want to give Roy a couple of hundred dollar sets of 9 ball? I think that is the only game he plays. The guy is from Norway and I don't think he won a quarter at the Derby City Classic.

Show him some love while he is in New York, for crying out loud. :crying:

Jelly

Oh yeah, for those of you who take Roy to task and make a score, don't forget to send Father Joey some Jelly. In New York, you might call it vigorish. :D

Remember, the guy has those Euro Dollars and you know what that means: Cha-Ching.

OK< that's it for me. Have to go sweat the Saints at Buffalo Billiards where the owner will be feeding everyone who comes to the pool room today.

(I did my best Roy) :outtahere:

Played Marc Vidal first match. I ran the first, we shared the next 2, then he ran 3 and gave me few chances the rest of the match, lost 8-2.

AZer "sfleinen" played Tony Robles, and I was going to meet the loser. Sean played good, but at 6-6 Tony finished it off, so it was time for a "bragging rights" matchup between two AZers.

I took the first, Sean the next 3. I made a little comeback, 4-3 to me. Missed a easy 8 and Sean made it 4-4. Shared racks till 7-6 to Sean.

He returned the favour and missed an easy 8, so hill-hill.

It wasn't a beautiful match, but someone had to win it.

I broke, finally made a ball. Pocketed the 1, played safe on the 2. Got ball in hand, ran the table but overplayed position for the 7 and had to go for a difficult 7-10 combi, and I made it.

It will be a better match from both of us, next time we meet. Hopefully not in a 14-1 event :-)

match again in about 30 minutes, time for some food

Yeah im relly looking forward to playing on the tour this year. Its been a long time since i played in a serious tournament. TOO long :frown:

Played Oscar Bunilla (?) next, and he played lights out. He missed 2 balls and won EASY 8-2. Another level than me, for sure.

Oh well, it was fun.

Who won?

What should be seen and done during my last days in NYC, thinking about pool?

I saw you won a match in the open division. Nice job Roy. My partner collapsed on day 2, but he managed to split for 1st in the abcd division. Not sure who won on the pro side. But when I left there were only 3 remaining, Ginky, Tony and Jeremy Sossei.

Roy:

Just a quick note to thank you for a great match, even though it was lackluster for both of us. Both of us made mistakes we shouldn't have made. I'm still kicking myself for missing that 8-ball in the case game, an easy down-the-rail shot that I bobbled because I stunned it a bit too hard trying to get position on the 9-ball (and admittedly, I needed to not take that 8-ball shot for granted like I did). Oh well. I have the benefit that there's another Predator Open 10-ball event next weekend, which I'll be in, and make sure I knuckle down and play my best.

Rotation games aren't my thing, but wouldn't you agree with me that THIS ONE (with the call-shot/call-safe/player-reshoots-a-missed-shot option rules) was fun? I think I've made up my mind that when given the opportunity, I'd much rather play 10-ball like this, than the Texas Express version.

And yes, the next time we meet, look out. ;) Especially if it's 14.1 or One Pocket. :D

A pleasure meeting and playing you, my friend. I do look forward to the next time!

Warmest regards,
-Sean

Way to go Sean

Sounds like you had a good tournament Sean. Do you still plan on coming to Maryland in the near, or not so near future???
