Predator experience with pics

I'm doing all this from my phone so I hope it works.

My Predator 314/2 shaft that I've had for a few years cracked from the ferrule clear down into the wood. I kept playing with it cuz I had to compete for my team and it was still the best stick available.

It ended up with three different cracks then finally buckled. Yes I had broke with it occasionally when my breaker wasn't around so I guess I deserved it.

So I bought a new Ikon 3 and it shoots great. Even came free with a poison jumper that jumps great. I got it 30% off on a website but as you can see from the pics it came with barcode stickers on the butt and the shaft! If I wouldn't have had goo gone at my house I would have lost it since I'd already invited the guys over and I would have had two big sticky spots on my new cue!

Is this normal to put barcode stickers on predator cues or is it just this website??? Killer deal at 30% off brand new with free jumper total $523 but stickers are no good. Didn't want to put harsh chemicals on my new cue.

Also some guys said if I sent my old shaft to Predator they might send me a new shaft. I have no receipt and I shouldn't have broke with it. Thoughts?

Rubbing alcohol should take off the sticker residue. You can google the predator ferrule crack on AZ, I believe you can get it replaced under warranty provided you don't try to fix it yourself.

Best of luck.

My Z2 cracked last spring and Predator said I could send it back to Florida on my dime, wait weeks for a response to see if they'd cover it under a warranty and then I could get it back. Instead, I took it to a local across the border in Vancouver, WA, and he did a fine job. The wood damage was similar, and he filled it in. The only difference is that there is a small piece of glue rattling around in the ferrule.. he said he'd fix it, but it doesn't really bother me so I'll wait until something else happens or I need a new tip.

The ferrule cracked, or made the alerting sound, on a standard shot in the middle of a funsy game. I used it to break before and use it to break still.

It's up to you on how long you'd care to wait and whether or not you'd be willing to ship it, wait and then possibly pay for it anyways. I paid $40 for a couple hour turn-around and a few bucks more for one of them there fancy kamui tips.

Heading to Lincoln City next time?

Thoughts, heres a few.....
1. you bought another p.o.s. production cue when you could have came over and got a 1 off Madden.
2. Any (shorty) jump cue with a hard tip works good...:p
3. And to think I was going to let you win 1 game when i came over....:D

This is why I hate those 3142, they play great but the quality of their ferrules are like crap.
I replaced my ferrule twice and they do not seem to last very long.

1. Don't want to relearn the game with a different shaft.
2. This Jumper takes less effort than my old jumper.
3. I will spot you one game to 11 when you come over. Loser buys the pizza.

The ferrule issue is that the titan ferrule or whatever they use now has such a thin wall its unreal. The first generation Preds had a much thicker wall than the new ones.

man i'm a predator fan. i learned to play with them. i'd still own one now if i could go one day without hearing at least one story like this. it seems like ever since they moved their factory to china all i hear is stories like this. a friend of mine has this same thing happening to his predator shaft right now. it started with the ferrule and now the woods cracking.

i wish they'd go back to making the shafts the way they used to. they're charging more there's no reason at all for the quality of their products to be dropping faster then their prices rise

Thanks for sharing your experience. Do you know about how hard you were breaking with it when you did use it as a breaker?

Thanks,
Aaron

Yeah man send the shaft in, what's cool is they probably will send you a brand new one in return as the wood has split too. Cha Ching jackpot!

Your an animal dude...

Rofl :-)

I also read some threads about these issues. But all the guys *around* me haven t got these issues in the past 2 years. (talkin about the player-cues)
If it s about the Breaker i felt myself a bit scary to use it, because of the construction. That here a ferrule of this kind can be damaged, is just logical in my eyes.

just my 2 cts

I have had at least a dozen Predator shafts and and a few Predator cues and have had no problems with them. Some have been old and some have been new but I do like the older ones a little better...probably psychological. A few years ago a guy in town had a problem with an old shaft, pre cat 314 and gave it to me and I contacted Predator. The splices had started to seperate and they said as long as it met the size requirements they would warranty it. This was right before a big tournament that they always have a booth at and the lady I talked to said take it and let a rep look at it. I took it to the booth and they gave me a brand new shaft and never thought twice about it. I have heard stories about the new over seas shafts not being as good of quality and the biggest reason is them not being straight but I have not seen any of these first hand.
