Predator shaft quality problems?

Thanks for getting back to me guys. I am very sorry to here that you had service problems and if the issue was that long ago it is possible. We have worked very hard to improve that facet of our business and improve the experience overall. The average lead time for getting something repaired right now is around 6-7 days, much better than it was back in those days. If I can of any assistance in the future please don't hesitate to contact me or Mark our customer service rep.

I look forward to hearing from you after the holidays.

Have a great holiday guys!

Sounds like excellent customer service to me!

To repeat, I have never had any trouble with Predator shafts.

Jim

I've had problems in the past and gone away from them. I remember that a custome builder that I know who is fairly well known on the west coast, showed me a trick to rebuild them glueing a center post at the top of the cue to give more support. This addtion did improve the life of the cue, in my opinion.

I own a BK. The paint was chipping off. I took it back to the dealer and he said "TOUGH. Predator won't do anything about it." I seen the Predator owner at a tournament and he said to ship it to them. They replaced it. Unless you deal with them directly don't take anyone else's word. Call them directly and talk to the service department. As far as my expereince with them they do stand behind their products.

Excellent advice. There is an awful lot of "urban legend" on a lot of things...often from people who have an agenda.

Are you sure he wasn't hitting a bowling ball instead of a cueball? :D

Never going back

I've been playing with Predator shaft for many years, and i buy 3 to 5 custom or production cues a year and fit all of them with 314's. But this summer changed all that for ever. I purchased a P2 from a cue retailer and the seller and i noticed one of the two shafts had a bad roll in it. The retailer didn't have any new shafts we i contacted Predator, they told me the don't warranty bad rolling shafts, but i can send it in and they'd have a look. So i sent it in. After three weeks with nothing i called, they said they didn't have the shaft, i gave them all the tracking info. They sent me a "new" shaft back. NEW my ass. It was a shaft they took in and repaired. The tip was 12.6! AND, it rolled bad too. I contact them again. This time they wanted me to send the butt and both shafts to them. After two weeks with nothing i started sending email to the up and ups at Predator. I was starting to work with some guy named Philepe?? Anyhow, after getting my cue back with the same shafts with no change in the one that rolled like it as been sitting in water for two years. I finally went back to the retailer to get a refund in full. The retailer had gotten in many new shafts and let me take a straight replacement.

If you think that was the end of it, wrong, read on...

During this time of the P2 i had gotten a couple new cues and got some 314^2 for them. Out of the 6 or 8 shafts many had ferrule issues, and two bad inserts. One was installed bad and the second had a hanging piece of metal that would allow you to screw it on.

So i finally decided to try a ob-1 shaft, OH MY GOD. The shaft came perfect. No issues, and it plays so much better. I have since started to switch out all my 314 shafts with ob-1's.

Thanks Predator for all the issues and poor customer services. You have let me find another product that plays better and has much better quality standards. And they are cheaper too!!! So i'll be spending $1000 - $2000 dollars a year on ob-1 and not you!! Doesn't sound like much to you, but to this cue whore after many years, well you guys can add it up.

I am so sorry to here about the problems that you had with our customer service. We went through some personnel changes during that time I can only assume that it was a big part of the issue but that is no excuse. I know that there is no way to make up for it after the fact, but please accept my apology on behalf of the entire company for the experience.
