Using Super Soft, I am debating on a soft tip the next time. Feel is very important to me, but the tip flattens to fast. I try using my break tip from time to time and it's a very hard tip and it feels well. So it's the reason why i might want to go up

Play a soft on a wood shaft (no glove). Like how it will harden over the months and wear into a nice medium that lasts.

Mostly stuck in bar-box BCA 8 ball and Fargo rated 9 ball tournaments these days so the tip works best for control IMO.

I'm curious what the players on here prefer.
Finally an interesting tip thread... Thank you.

Way back in the day I was a medium tip guy (morri). After having 1 tip last me literally 10yrs. I became a hard tip guy. No learning curve needed as we all know tip hardness plays near zero role in stroke/player performance.

Fast forward to my equipment change and the purchase of an Exceed (mezz). I demo'd that cue with a soft Zan. Absolutely fell in love with the hit/feel. Bought it on the spot, and over several months chased that 'feel' through numerous shapings and replacements. Finally gave up trying to maintain that feel and went back to a hard tip. I cried for a day or two, but got over it. Couldn't tell you the manufacture if my life dependent on it.

In the end for me, it's all about consistency and maintenance. I can play with the same hard tip for years and enjoy being completely comfortable with the feedback. I do not shape my tips at all..., ever. Every handful of months I get my cue guy to clean up the shaft and he may or may not nip the mushroomed edge off. I carry only a pick

The greatest mystery is how I manage to keep the same tips for so many years. I mean we all also know that chalking you're cue is akin to shaping your tip with a belt sander....lol

G2 soft for years
I like the g2 tips too, I use the hard ones and am playing 3c.

Had a blowout a couple weeks ago though and there wasn't 10hr of play on the tip.

Didn't vote because to me tips are VERY cue-dependent. On a soft hitting cue i use harder tips. On a real stiff hard hitter i might go to a soft. Usually use Ultraskin med's on just about everything lately.
A year ago I bought a Viking Seige which came with a Kamui (I think soft or super soft). It was so different from anything else I had played with the tip was the least of my concerns. Everything worked out fine and after a month or so of play it all felt great. The tip lasted through the summer and in the fall I was preparing for a tip change. As an experiment I installed an Elk Master which I had zero experience with. Long story short the install was hairy but the results where expectable. The hit and sound changed significantly but required no adjustment on my part for throw/squirt. Sound and feedback where softer than the Kamui. The Elk required constant shaping and burnishing which I was fine with, however the result was the tip only lasted about 3 months. When the Elk was reaching the end of it's life it had finally compressed and I wasn't constantly fiddling with it.

Last week I installed an UltraSkin black medium. Sound is Crisp like a aluminum bat, or Callaway driver. Playing with it for about 3 hours daily for nearly a week now I've gotten used to the sound and feel which is much, MUCH harder than the Elk, but everything is good for aim, spin, and speed. In fact I would say consistency on the table improved for everything. I've put Tiger Everest and Sniper tips on other cues and so far think the UltraSkins are comparable to those. Cost was 10 tips for the price of 1 of any other brand. I have 9 UltraSkin mediums left in the bag so I think it'll be a while before I try anything else :)

I've got G2 medium tips on my main playing cues shafts and have been very satisfied with everything about how they hit the cue ball and the english they transfer to the object ball .

I just installed a milk dud on one of my favorite bar box cues to see how that works with it .
Techno dud tips are a very close to the top picks for me also .
