I have the standard taper on my Prewitt, Its also never hit a ball(yet). It has a short taper and gets thick pretty fast perhaps 9", there is alot of wood in the middle of the shaft-too much for me. I talked to Ed and he is going to re taper my shafts, actually I made a appt to go see him and forgot. He is a great guy I used to play him ar South Bay Billiards back in 93-94.

I would guess by looking at the taper on my cue it would hit a bit like a SW.

On a side note I took my calipers out and measured the diameter of the butt at the ABCDEFGHIJ positions and a few more, well almost that many and Prewitt butts are exactly the same diameter and taper of my black Boar, there wasnt .009 difference anywhere along the butt, except where the wraps are at. I was amazed at that finding so I have measured them on several other ocassions, since the pool room in LA is to far to drive some times I take out my cues and play with them(like a kid) and measure them etc. I thought someone might find that interesting.

Ed builds one heck of a cue, I know how many per year, but I cant say as I was told in confidence, but it aint many.

Oscar Domengez just won Turning Stone using a Prewitt, pretty good huh???

Hi Eric, I used in the past one of Ed's cues, was too stiff the taper for me and the Butt to thin, The work was top notch but the Hit was not I prefer, to much forward balanced.
Miss your Hagar reply:boring2:

Ralf I'm very sorry i didnt get back to you, i have been so busy, please email me your phone number, and i will call you.

EP's are twice as stiff as the original SW taper.they are the stiffest cues i ever tried by a mile.

I really like Prewitt's cues. About the stats of the cue. I like the taper for the handle it suits me well and I also prefer a forward balanced cue. As far as the shafts I haven't gone into his shaft tapers but for someone interested in a Prewitt if you don't like how it hits, the cue is a good investment and if you don't want to hang on to it for playability reasons you can always get your money back.
On another note. I have talked to many cue makers around southern California. They all respect his work as a cue maker.
Ed has been building cues for a while now here in California. I have a lot of friends that have old player cues from him like sneaky petes. He built his reputation on playability first. Now his cues are visually and artistically immaculate. So good hitting and good looking cues. Probably some of the best silver work I have seen as well coming from any cue maker.
I only own a Prewitt sneaky so my opinion is based on seeing and playing with other peoples cues. But he is definitely someone who has paid they're dues and I'm happy that his cues are doing so well.

Nah, the Best Silver work comes from Bill McDaniel Shop and later Dennis Searing:grin:
Ed's are not highly polished.
Ralf, always looking for high end McDaniels:eek::grin:

Eddie makes a DAMN great cue........

I own 2 of Eddie's cues and the origianl shafts ARE geared more specifically towards the taiwan player market. Think predator's FAT shaft. I personally dont like this type of taper so I sold the original shafts of both my Prewitts and had Eddie make me new ones from scratch. Eddie can imitate ANYONE's taper by way of CNC. Just provide him with your favorite shaft and he'll replicate it. He did that for me and I couldnt be happier. Both shafts play EXCELLENT!

Hey guys, I just had Ed take a few tenths out of the butt of my Prewitt Titlist Tribute cue. The cue fits me beutifully now and does exactly what I need it to do at 19.1 oz with neutal balace of 18-7/8" from buttcap. The "Martin" shaft taper that Ed has stored on his shaft machine is slightly more flexible (.560 at mid-point--thats where the magic is for me) than his standard North American taper and it is at 12-3/4mm with uncapped (through) ivory ferrules. This cue now equals, or maybe exceeds the best playing cue I've owned, my Bocote Carmeli Hoppe. The new fullsplice cues have me excited and I am looking forward to keeping one for myself down the road. The owner of the first fullsplice Prewitt, Tommy T, gives his cue a glowing review. Ed's cues are bound to become more in demand as people play with them and discover Prewitt's precise quality of build.

BTW, wait until you see Ernesto D's new fullsplice Prewitt with silver inlays. It's almost completed.

ill tell u what. ive never seen in person a prewitt here on the east coast but from pics his work seems top notch. i think as he grows in popularity he will become a top maker in the world. from what ive seen so far he has passed some of the big names in quality just not a household name yet. his finish looks flawless!!!!1

I have had two of Ed's cues and they were two of the most precisely crafted cues I have ever owned. I had one of his steel jointed merry widow cues and I thought that was one of the best players I ever owned. I also had his standard five fancy ring flat face ivory jointed cue and although the cue was gorgeous and I made money on it, I was not as crazy about the hit on that one has the steel one. But both were some of the best looking cues I have owned, everything was dead nuts perfect.

Ed's work is top notch no doubt. I owned one of his coco 5 ring cues and really liked it except for the shaft taper. It was one of the catch 22 situations where I knew if I had them re-tapered it would hurt the resale and I was in the middle of my flipping period so I just traded it for the next in a long line of cues.

I always had a feeling that if I would of put a long taper with 12.75 diameter on those shafts it would have been very sweet.
