This the 2nd Pool room in Wichita that has a 16 player tournament bracket board wrong. I proved it to the 1st a couple of years ago, but it seems like the Pool rooms are all getting their bracket boards done at the same place.
I recognized the mistake because my profession is computing software and logic.
In the 3rd round on the winner's side (commonly referenced with a B), or the quarterfinals on the winner's side, the loser's of those 2 matches go 'straight across' to the left side. Looking at it from the top left side, it would have the loser of B1 first, and loser of B2 in the bottom half of the bracket.
A print shop, here in town, has been making boards, with B2 first, and B1 below it, which is wrong.
The logic behind the bracket board is the first starting round losers, go straight to the left, the 2nd round losers cross to the other half, the 3rd round losers go straight across, etc.
All odd number rounds (1,3,5,7, etc) go straight across, all even number rounds (2,4,6, 8, etc) will cross to the other half of the bracket on the losers side. This logic is true of ALL brackets.
With a wrong bracket board, 2 players can play on the right side, and then if the winner of the first loses in the next round, they can end up playing again, and they should not play again unless they are both in the semi-final match of the loser's side.
I have printed out 3 different 16 player tournament brackets from different Internet sources to take to show the owner of the Pool room here in Wichita that his bracket board is wrong, so he can correct it.
Question - Is anything like this happening in your city where you play? If so, then I suggest you do like I did, and print out 2-4 copies of a 16 player tournament bracket to show the room owner like I am going to do.
(In the 1st Pool room I corrected, someone tried to tell me the 16 player tournament bracket had different logic than a 8, 32, 64, player bracket, which is absolutely FALSE)
