Private Billiard Clubs

There are too many just to list one contact and where they are all located. Are you looking for a certain location?

I was part of one. $100 a month gets you the key to the place. We had two GGIV's and a heated billiard table. One guy was in charge of collecting dues, paying the rent and utilities and there were 5 shareholders. They made up the rules and the had a good system of accepting new members by putting them on a probation period. If they were cool, they stayed. Best thing I've ever been a part of.

The reason it was so successful was that the rent was so low.

I'd like to look into what it takes to have a successful club, so I think the location may be irrelevant. My pool shooting friends and I just started discussing the possibility of our own club and we figured this would be the best place to start gathering information.

SC Private Rooms

Living in SC and not being anywhere near a public access room is a real bummer. Anyone have a contact for a private club or room in the NE section of SC??

One used to exist lets just say in Chicago.

Way it worked. Camera on Door buzz for entry.
Monthly or yearly membership only entitled you to hang out there, no food or drinks. 24 hour place.

Only 4 tables all tight 9 footers and 1 bumper pool a chess table and some 4 sided tables for sitting at.

If you were lookin to play then when you got there you told the house man u were lookin to play and he put u on the list if you were lookin to stake then you went on the list as a stake. When someone would call up (this was in the infancy of cells they would say whos in the joint and you'd run down the list and then you would head in based on the list, or you might match up right there.

Did they limit the number of members? What would happen if there were a lot of people there that wanted to play but only the two GC's?

Honestly, it wasn't a problem. Not all members came in at the same time, so the times they were occupied we waited and or we played king of the hill. We had like 15 members and it was never really an issue. About 5 of us would come in from 8pm to 4AM and we had a lot of retirees, so they were there during working hours. It will work out. We also had poker table, tv, music, and a full kitchen. Not bad.

I have thought about this many times. I'm amazed at the low rates charged by IBC. If I lived a little closer I would apply for membership there.

Starting from scratch with say 10 members and a bare bones location with 4 GCs or equivalent I can't see how it could be done for less than $25,000. I look about for 9 other players who might come up with $2500 apiece and I can count about three.

I wonder what diamond might offer as far as a lease or lease to own deal... What would you figure for a private club? 2-4 Tables??? I think we may see more and more of these popping up around the country and if the equipment hurdle can be managed there should be no stopping someone from doing it with all of the rental properties on the market currently....
