Problem with Posting Pictures on AzBilliards

On many forums today, it is not possible to actually attach pictures, the way we have done in the past here at AzBilliards. The only thing you can do on those forums is post a link from a picture-hosting site, like Photobucket, et cetera.

I have tried to attach pictures on several posts since yesterday when the forum returned from its hiatus, but I am unable to do so. :sorry:

I must say that I am really enjoying the speed at which this forum is at today and yesterday. I click a link, and it immediately goes there with no hang, so that's a good thing.

If I have to trade attaching photos to threads with speed, I'll go with speed every time. :D

Anyway, I thought I would bring it to the attention of the webmaster, whoever that may be, that the feature of attaching photos is not working now. :)

I concur - we get a upload of file failed error when attaching photos.

We might have to use a photo-hosting site from now on, unless it gets fixed. I have a Photobucket account, but it is the "free" version. You are limited on the amount of photos you can post.

Here's a picture of my Sammy Boy that I am posting via Photobucket. I can post links. I just cannot attach photos anymore.

Here's another photo of the latest snow storm that broke down my beloved holly tree. I love that tree, and the snow was so heavy that the branches broke. :sorry:

The problem with posting links from Photobucket is that I cannot control the size of the photo. The other method, I could pull the .jpeg file up in Paint and reduce the size and then attach the photo to a post.

I wonder how big this snow scene will be from the Photobucket link.

I'm now feel compelled to post a pool-relaetd photo from Photobucket. I'm actually procrastinating starting my work day. I have a brutal job to get out, and I don't feel like starting yet. :embarrassed2:

Here's Jimmy Reid and Keith at the U.S. Open in 2002, I think it was.

Whenever you post, I feel like "Oz has just spoken." :D

Thanks, Mike, for the reply. I wasn't sure if you were the webmaster, meaning the one who fixes things, or not.

If photo posting slows down the forum, I like the speed we have now much better. Thanks for keeping the forum healthy. :)

JAM,

I posted a cue case with pictures from photobucket in the For Sale section last night and it worked perfectly. I don't know why you had a problem.

Hi JAM - I always use the insert photo tool which appears to work ok.

dropbox.com

I use dropbox.com which is a free 2gb online storage website. Previously I used my FTP server, but this is free and super easy to use. You can also sync it up to your smart phone with a free ap to view any private or public files, which are linked from your desktop to the online storage account.

Below is an example of the public account I have on my laptop. After the picture is put into your public folder, which is automatically uploaded to your dropbox website, you right click and select Dropbox then Copy Public Link and paste the link into the photo icon's URL box in the AZ posting. Super easy.

Cheers, Mark

Number 1 billiard site in the world.

Maybe the forum members can form some sort of consortium and take out an insurance policy on you. What would we do without you maintaining, producing and editing Jerry's article headings?

I didn't think about it until just now but maybe as far as the web development programming and maintenance is concerned, maybe Jerry already has our back??

Seriously, your efforts to build the NUMBER 1 BILLIARDS SITE in the WORLD haven't gone unnoticed.

Thanks!

JAM,

I downloaded a copy of your picture, resized it to 1024x768 in MS Office Picture Manager, and uploaded it to photobucket. I could have gone down in size if needed.

Here's the picture I resized and uploaded to photobucket:

I'm guessing its a file permission error. For some reason, when they restore the website, they didn't restore our permissions to certain folders.

The problem also appears to affect avatar images, as well......can't change them.
