Proficient Billiards cue repair

A friend of mine has a Gus Szamboti cue that is broken. Has anyone used Proficient Billiards to have a cue repaired? If not, who would you recommend? Thanks.

I have used Proficient with great results.

However, for a "Gus" I'd contact Barry Szamboti.

What's wrong with the cue? Where's it broken?

Scot is very talented and does beautiful work, but for a Szamboti, if Barry will do it - he should for sure if it's anything major.

The butt of the cue is broken in half. The Proficient Billiards website shows broken cues that look perfect after they are done repairing them. I'm not sure if Barry would be the guy for this kind of work. I'll have my friend contact Barry to see what he says. Thanks.

With all due respect to Scott @ Proficient, if you can keep the cue within the Szamboti family, not only can you get verification, but also receipts and possibly copies of cue creation and construction.

You'll pay more and probably wait a lot longer, but it is a better investment, IMHO.

As long as he is willing, I can't understand why Barry would "not" be the guy for this work or any other work on any Szamboti.
 
I would go with Barry, definitely, if he will do it, that is. I've known Scott to do great work though I've not had him do anything for me....yet, that is.
I've seen a cue broken in half over a missed 9 ball that Tim Scruggs put back together and I'd defy anyone who didn't know it had been broken to see it.
 
Scott Sherbine does fantastic work. I've gone to him for a refinish/re wrap and the cue is seriously better than new.

I am willing to bet, given the value of the cue though, he'd say to go to Barry first himself.
