Proof that fundamentals aren't important.

Looks like his fundamentals are good to go.

Fundamentals mean a lot, but who's to say that everyone should have the same fundamentals?

Fundamental - a central or primary rule or principle on which something is based.

My fundamentals are horrible and I can't play my way out of a paper bag.

Therefore, fundamentals are important.

The reality is you can't use a freak of nature natural like Bustamante as an example, especially compared to most other pros lol.

Busti will be the first to tell you that he is the worst guy to emulate and copy hiw style of play. He said it in an interview. It works for him and has carried him thru his career. Efren and busti is getting the 8 in most moeny matches in the philippines. That shows how many strong players there is that we dont know about.

I was just about to say that. Someone giving Busti the 8 in 10-ball is pretty strong.

Home court advantage spot.
Notice the place has no chairs and the tin roof has no insulation ?
That's why some of the rail birds have towels around their necks.

Unbelievable. A never heard of giving Busti the 8, 9, and 10. If that kid can get over to the states and get a SMART banker, they could make a good killing fast. Today, if you have a talent like that, you must play for BIG money right off the bat, because it won't take but a few days before everyone knows how he plays.

Think about it, if you can run a rack or two of 10 ball and someone you don't know offers you the 8, 9, and 10. Hell if he offered me that on a BB and I could get someone to break for me, I'd be all over that, and probably get beat. Johnnyt

I think the days of big money playing against an unknown are pretty much over. Technology has taken care of that. Not many players will step up in the box without having a line.

A few years ago I played in a tournament in Quincy, Illinois. There was an Asian player that nobody knew. He was wearing a Chicago Cubs t-shirt and his road partner claimed they were from Chicago. The player didn't speak English but his buddy did. By the time the calcutta began, people had a line on the guy who was a pro from Taiwan in the states for a few months. He had just finished 2nd to Dennis Orcullo in the Chinese open a few months before.

He aint the only one...,

The reality is you can't use a freak of nature natural like Bustamante as an example, especially compared to most other pros lol.

They might help, but the only fundamentals that really matter are fundamentally making the shot and fundamentally getting a good shot on the next ball..,

Are the ones that gamble on pool in this thread telling me you wouldn't try this kid with that spot? Don't forget, you didn't see this video or heard about this guy. I'm positive that 12 years ago when I had a back and had a break in 10 ball, that I would try him out for $20 a rack or $100 or so races to 5 on the box. There is a big difference of the meaning of a "nit" in pool gambling. One I you have to have a game you can't lose and the my meaning is, "don't let anyone steal from you". Johnnyt

If they can come over and pass themselves off as anything but Filipino- Mexican, Guam-anything, they can get played for a while. But no winner gets played too long these days.

Someone would have to invest in a few uniforms, a few cheap cases and a few cheap sticks-do an eyebrow shave, a wig, a head shave, Danny Barouty hat or a heavily bandaged ear after each 2 stops, No more than 2 stops within a hundred miles-next stop head in a different direction at least 500 miles. You might make a bit. Then go for the Jugular after a loss somewhere else.

PS-You wouldnt believe what a head shave can do for a bushy haired guy especially if a moustache went also. Leil Gay showed up at a room i frequent sans the hair and moustache. It took me 2 days to figure out who he was and it was only because of his walk and the way he held his head walking around the table. Others in the room had seen him before many times and never caught on.

If I don't wear a hat, grow a beard, shave it to a goatee, etc... people often don't recognize me.

I had girls at our central business office tell me I have to start wearing my hat when I come there cause they don't recognize me.

a "gunfight," I ran 7 racks in a row and he came back with 8!!!

Off-line elbow and elbow drop.
Busti style. :D

Francisco is a dangerous player. I played him in a big match at the Jay Helfert tournament at the Burbank Hilton. He was in top form, and the match drew a crowd like I'd never seen in LA.....there must have been over 800 people there, guess Jay would know better than me.

We also played a few times for money, the first being at the Pleasant Run tournament in Chicago....talk about a "gunfight," I ran 7 racks in a row and he came back with 8!!! And this was on very tight tables with an exceptionally deep pocket shelf.

If you practice enough, you will develop your own " norms ". The key is that when he makes contact, his cue is in the correct position. Look at Fyryk on the golf tour. You cant copy his swing. The key is at the point of contact, the club head is in the correct position and his body is balanced. Practice and create your own style.
