Prulhiere cue pics - the truth is out!

Hmmm. Buy some at 8.00 a piece rebadge and then sell them for 150 - 300 each.

Nice profit, no work to do, and no sawdust to cleanup.

I wonder if this has been tried.....

No I'm not a scumbag I try to resell these cues for $20 to $30 a piece locally and I tell people flat out what they are no deception. The shafts on these cues are good quality shafts and they alone are worth what I'm asking. I believe in Kharma if you screw somebody it will come back on you!

A good shaft costs more than this cue did. If you pay for a VW don't be surprised when its not a Porsche!

I have nothing to say about this deal or Brian's cues. However if anyone truly believes that it's impossible to buy a good cue for $225 I want to say this,

Post a list of criteria as to what makes a good cue. Objective things.

I will bet $1000 that I can buy a bunch of cues at less than $250 each and send them to an independent lab to test them against those criteria and they will all pass.

These days it's actually tough to buy a bad cue.

I apologize if it seemed that I was accusing you of something. In my reply to you, I had no idea you were reselling these cues. The thought came to me that it was possible to do, and could be used by some to make a big profit for very little work.

I am wondering if Prulhiere is really making these cues?

If you think about it, he gets a cue to a customer in 3-4 weeks. He either has a lot of wood in his shop that has been turned for months and is ready to go or he buys these cues @ dealer prices from overseas, adds his ID information, rewraps them and ships them out. At a nice profit.

People that build cues, know the steps involved and the amount of time it takes. Most of the time spent in cuebuilding is wait time between cuts. Heck that wait time between cuts could be 3-4 weeks.

No I didn't think you were accusing me. It's all good. It would be very easy to take these Aska cues sand off the finish and rework them with like veneers or even change the pin in the joint, refinish them and put your own badge on them and call them custom. I thought about buying a lathe and doing this. I'm not saying this is what is going on and even if it is whoever is doing the work should disclose this. But in their defense the time and money it costs to do this has to be worth something.

Holy %&$% for the first time someone on AZ has made me feel like knocking their teeth in. I don't get pissed very often, but that is it. i am not going to set around while I am run in the ground. Don't accuse me of one more dirty or crooked thing Tony.

Haven't you noticed Tony, I have been unable to get the cues out that quick. That was one of my biggest mistakes was quoting too short of time frames. Had you been concerned with this issue, other than for your own fun, you would realize that that is a major complaint. I didn't get them out in 3 to 4 weeks. But I haven't told anyone 3 to 4 weeks, except when I had a bunch built ahead and ran a special on here, so be reasonable. I don't take orders and tell them 3 to 4 weeks. Just because I not going to get on here and get in a verbal fight you keep piling it on trying to coax me into a good ole fashion ***** fest. You have said more than the OP. You have ran me down more than he has. Were you the guy who knocked books out of people's hands in school to make other people laugh? I bet you were. YOU KNOW NOTHING about me, but I would be GLAD to introduce myself. Why don't you grow up. Say some stuff that is related to this post. You have made this your own personal mission to make me look bad and I am not sure why. Oh, and to take the fun out of it for you, don't bother putting in your next comment that I am making myself look bad, as that is a way to obvious comeback. I've paid more than $250 for a set of joint protectors. Don't know if that makes me stupid or smart.

I'm in the auto repair business. I see this all the time. People come in and ask me for a quote which I give them . Usually I'm quite a bit more than Joe blow down the street. They usually say if you'll match his price I'll let you do the work . These days I just chuckle and say no thanks I have a two to three week back log. Half the time I end up fixing the shoddy work they had done, I get my price and the customer learns a good lesson. Bottom line you get what you pay for. Good aged wood costs more than this cue did .

This is of course just my opinion but i highly doubt this cuemaker has the equipment or know how to make a cue other than a traditional v splice or short splice. This would further lead me to believe the blank came from somewhere other than his shop.

I also think that there is absolutely no issue with making a veneered point such as this if done clean.

I respectfully disagree with the time frame data here. If a cue maker has a lot of aged/cured wood, rings, joint material, bumpers, and shaft pins in stock and ready to go shaft blanks they can turn out simple merry widow cues in a 7 to 10 days.

I have seen Dan Tull make cues in less than a week that play awesome and have remained straight and consistent for many years. He gave me a cue that he put together showing a new cue maker how to make a butt and I have used it for a traveling player for the last 8 years and it is still dead straight. He has all the materials at hand and ready to go.

I don't know either person involved in this dispute and have zero opinion and just hope they can come to a workable solution that makes them both happy. I wish them both well.

Respectfully

Splice, full splice, inlays, cored, and the almighty veneer cue. I can do any of them. I am sure you were not trying to insult me, but that is selling my ability short. Why do you assume I can not do them? This whole thread has gotten out of hand at this point. I lost my cool earlier, and should not have gotten as mad as i was in the last post. I didn't intend on offending any neutral observers with it.

I wasnt trying to insult you. I actually appreciate your confidence in your ability. If you actually know how to do a veneered pointed cue like the one in the picture then you'll totally understand any doubts that those in the know would have.

He paid for what he got as the wood and parts with veneers would have cost more! Come on get real this is bullshit!

yeah in China its possible to buy great cues for $225, if you know where to go and have QC people cover your ass.

In america its hard to buy a cue retail for $225 thats very good.

no chance a cue maker in america will build a good cue for $225-unless he is your brother or something.

a very well known top cue maker told me once:

"your only good as the last cue you built"

Cant argue with that, If I built a cue, it would be horrible, and if I charged someone for it and sold it-my reputation would not be good. It is my opinion a cue makers reputation is worth more than any cue he will ever build. So if you build a POS chop it up, learn from it and start over, thats how cue makers establish themselfs.

These are all good cues in my opinion.

If I got a really well built custom cue for cheaper than it should have cost me.......should I ask for a refund? Even though it plays amazing and looks great?

Aren't there custom cues on here that are built really well for 225 or less?

The only thing I know about you is the quality of "your" work from pictures posted in this thread, and "your" own words.

As I said before you come off as immature, and you are evasive when you post information. You don't answer simple questions directly.

All cuemakers I know are proud of both work and their equipment. When asked questions about how and why they construct cues using their methods they are glad to share the information. When you first came on this site you were asked some of those questions that would have been the time for you to explain why you use veneers in the cues like you do. People are still going to buy them if they look attractive and play well as long as they know upfront how you d things. On your website, do you have pictures of your shop and equipment, you have been on this board for a while, has any other forum member visited your shop? I would love to hear about that.

Is this fun for me, hell no in fact I find the whole affair distasteful. I have tried to offer you what advice I could in the other threads about customer service and full disclosure of your methods, which you have ignored or replied back with deception and spin. The posting record is there why don't you read it again? Why am I taking up this cause....because of your lack of honesty and your responses to your customers. Because of this you are making it even tougher for any new cuemaker who wants to get there own start. Now they are going to have to bear the suspicion of using veneers like you do in your cues.

In short, I don't believe a word you say because I have only two things to go on, the quality of you work, and how you treat these customers that have issues with you and have posted there problems. If you remember from my past posts this is all on you, as you "made" the cue and sent it out in the condition it is in. If you did not want this trouble, you should have sent out a better product the second time, and for the other person you should have sent out his cue by now. You are only pissed off about all of this because you were caught. Deal with it like a man. Since you have not been honest to you customers it makes me wonder what else you are not saying.

As far as the "China Connection" that wasn't even my own idea. I had a thread in another forum linking back to all of this. Another cuemaker opened my eyes to this. He is absolutely sure that the veneered cues were made in China, as he has dealer catalogs of 100's of these cues that can be ordered for under 20 bucks.

Are you doing this? I don't know for sure. (I really want to believe you are not doing this) My post was a hypothetical. Why don't you post some pictures of your equipment and stock, and get someone from AZ to visit you and see and report on your cue construction abilities.

And Brian when you feel strong enough to punch in my teeth let me know.

I would be willing to visit his shop if he would allow it. I might even order a cue made to my specs and quality that I approve of. I'm about 2 hours from him. I know the town of Corinth pretty well and I have family 30 minutes from him in my home town.

That would be the best way to know the truth.
