Prulhiere cues, A few words from the cue maker

prulhiere cues

This has been a tough ride for me here on A to Z. I wasn't offended by the questions at all, but that may be because I don't get upset easy.....unless someone is driving faster or slower than I am or driving different than me what so ever. My wife says I am a road rager.....Anyway, I was reading some of these latest posts on my thread, and I think it is great that people around here stick up for others. I do not mind questions though. I don't know the pecking order on here or who is who, but I am nervous of the fact that everyone seems to base there decisions on what someone else thinks. Don't get me wrong, I understand the importance of reviews, especially for a newbie like myself. The strange thing was I had very little activity until I got a review then the PM's went crazy. I think my big fear is if someone has a bad experience, or just doesn't like me or my product or that one bad review could spell death to a new cue maker. Some people must have huge power of persuasion as one PM wanted me to give him a free cue because his review would be so powerful that it would be worth my while. I appreciate offers of help, but a small business like mine can't afford to do that. There are times when I feel coming to A to Z may have been to soon for me as it holds way more power and influence than I realized before. I had a really good Ebay business going before and then I hit the boards here. Ebay slowed way down and prices came down despite great feedbacks there. I hope I weather the storm here and can get a chance to send some cues your way. I will wait and see now. I hope none of this came across condescending, childish or demeaning to any of you, because that is surely not my intent. I look forward to getting to know the people here and hope I will be here awhile. Thanks to everyone who has bought a cue or supported me here. I am going to post this on the main forum also.

You seem like a fair and genuine type of person from what I have read on a few forums and its cuemakers like yourself that if your personality reflects your product ,you'll never go out of business! You'll get some haters that might be friends with another makers that will try and scar your work but fck them all and do what you love and enjoy it.Goodluck Scott:smile:

I have read your replies to all the questions and you are very cordial. I appreciated your honesty in you strengths and weaknesses on your building.

However, in my opinion you should stay true to yourself and not be so influenced by what others say about your cues. As long as you build to the very best of your ability I believe you will have as much success as you want. Your price point seems very desirable to many pool players. I do agree AZ can seem a bit overwhelming at times but stay the course. Your cues seem to have a lot of value for the dollar. In these times where the economy is very tight, you should do very well.

Please do not overpromise cues. I have seen many makers fall into the trap where they have too much work.

I wish you much success,
Chris

Curious about your cork wrap. How thick is it? If you add one to an existing cue do you have to modify the cue at all?

Hahaha. Name names. Just kidding.

Altho there are many efficienados on AZ, I doubt that any one person is going to influence your sales drastically to warrant a free cue from you. Thats not to say 100% that it couldn't happen. Its just that you have to lower yourself, in a manner of speaking and give a complete stranger a free cue in trade for a good review, if thats how I am reading it.
If that is in fact the case, as I mentioned previously, your cues look great and let them speak for themselves.

There was a new cue maker not long ago that offered a few people a cue to try out for nothing more than the cost of shipping.
If you like it, buy it, if you don't, just send it back. Can't get any more trusting than that.

By chance what happens if you send a free cue and they happen to not to like it. Are they going to give you a bad review and still get a free cue? Maybe put it up for sale at a later date.
As Dave mentioned, don't believe it.
By the way, you handle yourself very professionally. You sound like and earnest and honest guy just trying to make his mark and as far as I am concerned thats a great way to start around these parts.

I ve followed your threads and i ve been around here a while my best advise is do what you do cause it looks good and im sure it performs well also DO NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT YOU HERE ON HERE...most that will critisize and nit pick cant even turn on a lathe...good luck in your cue making looks to me like you ve got your shit more than together

I find it interesting that an AZ member would ask for a free cue in trade for a good rating. Considering that the OP probably won't disclose who it was, I am hoping that they will pop in and lets us know what their proposal was.
What do you think the chances of that are?

You have a better chance of Zeus himself telling you who it was.

To answer a question about cork asked earlier....I put it on at about 1/8 inch thick on cues I build, and if I put it on a customers cue they send me, I use slightly less. The cue will still need altered though as the standard thickness of the wraps isn't thick enough for cork. The cork becomes hard and scuffs easy when it is to thin......so yes, I do have to alter your cue.
