Putman D. appleton Ap calls Putman a

here's what happened

Bryant and Appleton were at the back end of a long and really tough match; they started at 10:30 and finished up at 1:45 AM, with Bryant winning 10-8. Charlie was getting down over a ball, wearing a large and loose hawaiian style shirt, which apparently first brushed/touched a ball; with perfect timing to screw up the shoot, Appleton spoke up [audible to the crowd, which by that time was about 5 people] and said "you moved the ball." Charlie said, "no way my shirt moved the ball, and it ain't a foul anyway", and got down to shoot again. As he was about to stroke, Appleton, again with timing, said "now you moved the nine ball" [first time it was the seven I think] and Bryant told him to quit running his mouth while he was trying to shoot, to which Appleton replied, "I can't help it if you've got a fat belly" and they were off to the races, until Frank came over and stopped it.
Appleton had hung a few balls, and was trying to come back from being down 7-2, and everyone was tired. Several of the 10:30 matches didn't start until 11:30 and were finished long before this one. Long day, large money on the line, tired players, short fuses, great drama, and another great shark attack.....
They [sort of] kissed and made up at the end of the match... Appleton seemed to apologize and Bryant seemed to accept it.....

Now we're talking. Hey, if the golfers can do it, then why not the pool players? A player's gotta do what a player's gotta do to make the shot, I say.

In fact, I think it may give the sport of pool a little boost! :p

That looks like the way people around here play golf normally....

Darren's black eye from a few months ago is starting to make sense. Isn't this the same tourney that a maniac started banging his head uncontrollably and had to be taken to the emergency room? LOL, I am thinking of a guy that plays in my town that has actually punched himself out while playing.

Are you thinking of the guy that banged his head on the table, Gabe was playing him I think.

Whats the point in posting something no one can understand. I thought it meant someone named Mark took their shirt off while playing.

I can't answer that. I'm gonna have to forward your question and your apparent dissatifaction to him - HollyWood. The writer of the post.

Someone explain to me why he took his shirt off.
Maybe he just wanted to show off his hairless chest.
And why not just roll up his pants legs? This guy was definitely out to get some attention.

He did it because he hit it in the hazard on the second hole of the round and knew he was gonna get mud from head to toe if he played the shot. So, instead of walking around the rest of the day with mud soaked clothes he opted to take some stuff off.

As a golfer, I can tell you, when you play those shots from mud puddles, water hazards, etc...you can soak yourself and get mud literally from head to toe. If it were late in the round I doubt he would have taken anything off, but it was very early in his round. I would have done the same.

Okay then, show us your photos! I want to see if you have any hair on your chest.

I actually met him in New Jersey at a Skins Billiards Championship for the first time, and I think he told me that he used to be a stand-up comic. I'm not kidding. LOL! :)

That is correct.

And Steve Tipton used to be a politician.

It all kinda ties together don't it?

:)

PS: Love the Lab pic. I got one of them too.

Jimmy, I was watching the match on UStream, when Charlie leaned over and his shirt touched a ball. Darren said something and it all began from there. They are playing cue ball fouls only so it wasn't a foul, but Darren has a right to say something and move the ball back if he wants to. Charlie claimed he never touched anything, and got pretty testy about it. When the volume increased between the players, TD Frank Del Pizo stepped in and calmed them both down. He had to shut them up in fact. They were off and running.

I don't know Frank, but I like the way he handled it, "That's enough, I don't want to hear another word from either one of you." "Stop it right now, both of you!" "One more word and you lose the match." Straight out of the Jay Helfert school of TD'ing. I like this guy already and I don't even know him.

Thanks for letting us all know what happened. The OP was not very clear especially when he had the wrong guy.
Jay, ya still need to "link" your signature lol. Not to worry though I have seen others on here who have it in there sig as a link. Matter of fact, I will put it in my sig in a bit. Soon as I get some time. I'm workin on my wife to get me your book for my b day.

I saw this part of the match too. Charlie slammed his stick on the table not once but twice. He was definitely trying to intimidate Darren.

I like when Charlie said, Ok fine but I need a break. And the ref said, No breaks, just finish the match as this match has gone on long enough.

I didnt watch the entire match - who is the slow player? My guess would be Charlie as he is very deliberate. Let's hope so cause if Hatch-Appleton are to play a race to 100 it might take 9 days.

Jay - in a previous tournament, this same golfer hit the ball out of the mud and had to walk around the rest of the day with his cltohes soaked and soiled. He didn't want to do so again. Plus, yes now he got the free publicity and a few new fans. A Hanes underwear commercial is probably coming out next.

Hey Mr. Jay, if you'd like to do as Mr. Tucson says but still keep it saying jayhelfert.com, without all the www jazz, you can put it in your signature as jayhelfert.com.

Just quote my post to see how it's formatted and then you can copy and paste from there if you so desire. :)

His muscle tone is kind of interesting! :outtahere:

Nicklaus use to put on a thin raingear outfit for those shots which he usually hit stiff too.
