Q Masters altercation?

OMG!!! DO WE HAVE NOTHING BETTER THINGS TO DO IN OUR LIVES THAN SPECULATE ABOUT WHAT STARTED THIS FIGHT!!! ( )

(I know I don't...So, since no one's going to present the facts, I'm going to reason this out myself... :p )

My speculation:

Someone must have stated Efren's winning shot was purely "luck"...and Darren, being the gentleman he is, came to Efren's defense and said it was clearly planned and perfectly executed!!! Things just went downhill from there!

Sheesh...it's all clear to me!

p.s. JAM - You got me!!!

I was there and behind me was a lot of yelling and I saw Appleton run at Lee and swing at him and Lee dodged the swing and hit Appleton square in the face and then it went to the floor and they wrestled and when it got broke apart Appletons face was leaking blood everywhere.
Darren was yelling to Lee when you get back to England your a dead man and Lee responded with hey everyone there's your US Open,World Champion and Mosconi Player and everybody saw for their own eyes what just happened.Darren was rushed out before the police got there but Lee didn't get out of the parking lot before the police caught up to him.

Those blue-blooded Brits. They thumb their nose at Americans, like we're beneath them, and look at how they act. Sheesh!

Big deal...two grown men in a fight. They will probably be best buds and have a beer laughing about it later.

Jen:

The root cause of this might be the situation I described in the "US Open Updates" thread, where, after Darren lost his first match with Efren (when Efren lucked-in the match-winning 9-ball after Darren hooked him), the mics were left on in the commentators booth. After the audience left the arena, Shane was practicing on the table, and you could hear Jim Wych and Daz talking in the background. Daz was absolutely upset that Efren had celebrated in the arena the way he did. Jim was trying to calm him down.

"Meeting minutes" of that situation:

Thanks for the update. Looks to me like Darren doesn't accept defeat well!

Who cares if Efren ran around the perimeter giving everybody a high-five! Heck, if I slopped in the winning ball in a tight race, I'd be on Cloud Nine, especially at the Open. Good for Efren!

Show me a loser who likes to lose, and I'll show you a loser. Champions of Darren's caliber should accept defeat gracefully, even on the luck shot.

I am reminded of what happened to Queen Jean after a ball was slopped in for the win against her. She got so upset that she unscrewed her cue for good, especially after pool politics raised its ugly head wanting her to pay a fine.

I am sure Darren wanted to win, but, hey, you can't win 'em all. It just wasn't in the cards for him this year. He's probably burned out from the travel this week from the International Champions up in Yankee Country to Virginia. It does take its toll on you. :embarrassed2:

Hey! You watch that "Yankee Country" stuff. :) If I showed you pictures of what it looks like at this time of year -- with all the deciduous trees in the hillsides (and as far as the eye can see) sporting bright yellows, oranges, and reds -- you'll eat those words! And something else -- it ain't flat as plywood here, like, oh say, DC. ;) You and Keith obviously have a VIP invitation up here -- Lisa and I welcome you guys into our home if you're ever up here. But alas, at the moment, we're getting ready for what everyone's saying will be "Frankenstorm"... :o

As to Daz, losing a second time to Efren might'be just put him on tilt, and knowing the inherent sarcastic sense of humor the Brits have, it might've been that Lee said something -- perhaps innocently -- that pushed Daz over the edge. Who knows, I certainly wasn't there. But it does appear that Daz's fuse was already "lit."

I never would have thought of Appleton being a sore loser. Very disapppointed in his behavior.

Sounds like a plan! That would be fun! One of my favorite pool halls is in Yankee Country, right in Albany.

Then he should stay in England. I for one would not miss him.

Efren shook his hand by my count three seconds after the nine ball fell. God forbid someone in pool show some enthusiasm for winning.

Out of curiousity Jen, which one?

There's only one great pool hall in Albany, as far as I'm concerned. :embarrassed2:

This one below!

Ok, I have it on VERY good authority that the fight had NOTHING AT ALL to do with Appleton losing any match at all including Efren.

Jesus, it's nine ball. Flukes happen in nine ball all the time. If a grown man can't get his head round that simple fact then he's in the wrong game.
