Clearing up the confusion:

You do NOT have to be a BCAPL member to play in the 4 - US Open events. (One-Pocket, Banks, 10-Ball, 14.l). ANYBODY can play (that is why they are called ?open?). You can play in all of the events because one event is in the AM ? the other is in the PM.

So far the sign-ups are REAL slow. We are adding $5,000 per US Open event (+$100 per player over 50 players). Guaranteed $20,000 ADDED!!!! To participate in the added money, you must be a registered guest, (not booked through a 3rd party like hotel.com).

?So far we ONLY HAVE 38 total entries in all of these events. So ----- sign up and get some money!!!

Forms are here: http://www.playbca.com/Default.aspx?tabid=246. You can also sign up on site or you can fax or e-mail them in.

We have tried to explain this to everyone but there is still some confusion. The amateur events are for BCAPL members. The BCAPL amateur is $10,000 Guaranteed ADDED!!!!

THEACTIONREPORT is having 2 great matches; Danny Harriman vs John Schmidt on Nov. 8-10th. Shane van Boening vs Earl Strickland on Nov 15-17th. Go to www.theactionreport.com for more info. There is no door charge to the Qlympics, however there will a door charge for the challenge matches. There are also a dozen great exhibitors that will have some great values.

This event will not cancel. If you have any questions, please contact the BCAPL office at 702-719-7665. (www.playbca.com).

Come on guys. We always talk about having more and better events. Here is one that has One Pocket, Straight Pool, and Banks !!! All with added money. It is being put on by the best people in the game and played on the best tables in the game. Support the people who support our game.

I know that alot of people can't afford to travel and stay for a week, or just do not have the time. Something WE ALL CAN DO is talk about this event. Talk about it at league, tell your buddies, mention it on other forums or in your pool room.

I guarantee there will be a ton of people saying "I didn't know about it" in a couple of months when people are talking about something cool or amazing that happened at this event. Let's all try to get the word out.

If you can play, come and play. If you can watch, come and watch. If you can't get away for the event, talk about it to your pool buddies.

I know there are a 1000 reasons why this or any event may not be everything to everybody but we are better off with more quality events not less. Let's get it done.

Diamond Tables, Aramith Balls, Simonis Cloth, and $20K added. Hard to beat.

All this is going off in a nice venue too. Here is a link to pictures of the tournamnet hotel:

The Open events are not friendly to the working man. At least at the DCC the Banks start on Fri. That only means 1 day (maybe 2 if you play well) off work to play.

There are 4 events with $5K added each. Right now there are less than 40 players TOTAL for all the events. Do you really think it will take a week to play the tournaments?

Mark has put it out there on this one. If you can't play due to time constraints you can still talk about the event. Jaime, you live, what, 4 or 5 hours away from Louisville? How many people do you talk to in your area that have no idea about this event ?

You do not have to take a week off of work to support an event, just tell people about it, if possible come down for a weekend and sweat some matches and trade some cues.

This is no shot at you, I know you support the sport and are a vendor that pays for booth space when you can. My point is that it isn't an all or nothing thing. For better or worse our game and industry still relies on word of mouth for much of the information exchange.

Mark Griffin is a guy who makes things happen, he has already stated that this thing WILL go off no matter what. The Action Report will be there for the whole thing no matter what, our matches will go off no matter what. The thing is we all need help. Help with participation and, as important, help with getting the word out. We all know that everyone can't take time off whenever they would like, everyone CAN spread the word.

I think there are 6 people signed up for 14.1 as of yesterday. 6 people in a $5K added event with a very reasonable entry fee. Many of the world beaters will be in Manilla, sounds like a good time to get in.

What's the date and the entry fee on that 14.1 tourney?

I found the dates and entry... I might try to see if I can make it up there. I think the main problem is finding affordable rooms during the dates of the event. I'm willingto play in it, I just need to find someone-or two-or three to split room costs.

Justin,

I'm glad you posted the separate events on Mark's behalf. Very few players could possibly stay for the entire 18 days. That's a marathon worthy of Johnston City. But perhaps some players can come down and play in one or two events that look good to them.

In the future I'd like to see Mark find a way to narrow this down to a nine day event, with tournaments overlapping each other. That's more than long enough and it coincides with the length of DCC. I suspect he would get much more participation that way. I think the length of the event is the single most imposing thing and the main obstacle to its success. JMHO as always.
