Question about a cue shipping

Hi guys -

I just purchased my first cue - a Joss via pooldawg. Originally it was said to be delivered tomorrow so I made arrangements to have someone there to sign for the package so that my new stick would not sit out in the cold for 9 hours why I am at work.

I just checked and it is out for delivery today! So that means it will be sitting outside for the entire day - it is 12 degrees F here today....

I might be being paranoid, but will it sitting out in the cold that long have any negative effect on the cue? What about bringing it in to the warm house after it sitting outside?

thanks in advanced for advide/answers.

When you get home put the box in the house, but don't open it for a couple of hours. The point is to let the cue warm up very slowly so you don't get any finish checking.

you are probably okay

Even with the cold temps, your cue will probably be just fine for these few hours.

I would recommend that when you get home, take it inside and let it get back to room temp before playing with it.

Also, check it for straightness.

Assuming all is well, you should be good to go.

Enjoy your new weapon.

That is why I always ship cues to my work. I don't want it sitting outside when it is this cold and I don't like the thought of it being out there to be taken by somebody walking or driving down the street. Fortunately I live in a good neighborhood, but that thought will always be there. Especially when I'm a kid in a candy store when it comes to cues being delivered.

Yikes - that makes me more nervous! Thank you for the advice though - I will most follow that advice for sure.

I thought about that, but when they told me it would be there on Thursday and I have someone there all day I thought I was safe - but in the future - yep going to ship them to the office!!

Everybody is forgetting something about shipping:

They don't use heated trailers/box trucks/cargo areas when they ship things.

The few hours that the cue is sitting outside is nothing compared to the day or two it sat in a truck.

If cold really bothered cues, every cue delivered in the winter to most of the US would be damaged.

Hmmmm, logic.

I do agree that you shouldn't heat it up too quickly, but I would play with it, if it were mine (and I wasn't getting frost bite from holding it).

dld (lived in montana and saw/used a lot of cold cues)
well there you go...using logic!! Good call, thanks for bringing that up, I never really thought about that.

hahaha im debating...mine is scheduled to be delivered friday sometime in the afternoon. I want to play friday night..haha.

the cue maker said wait a couple of hours...im leaning to listening to the cuemaker but it doesn't hurt to wait overnight lol

you forgot a very important point to this.....if it has to be signed for they will not leave it....you will have a sticker on your door.....just go pick it up at the post office within the next 5 days....they will keep it inside...dont worry it will not be on your door step....
