Question- How much does it cost to get my Balabushka wrap changed?

It's white irish linen now.. I prefer black irish linen, or leather. I am curious how much does a wrap change usually cost? Just a rough guesstimation would work for me.

Also how much does a tip change cost you in the normal pool hall? I know a moori hard 9 layer is like $20, so ontop of that what is the typical cost? I usually did my tips myself but never had one as good as when the cue was new (and came with a tip on it)

About $50 and up for linen, $100 and up for leather depending on who does it. There may be some issues on the impact on the value of the cue if it's Balabushka. If I owned a real Balabushka and I wanted the wrap to be replace, I'd probably have only one cuemaker in mind to do it. Pete Tascarella :yes:
 
It is not a real Balabushka, exactly.. It is a 1/100 of the GB models, which are sold out. It's was worth $1,200 when they had them still available and I believe going up as they will never make this model again..

So it's not a $50k balabushka, just a $1,200 one. I don't think the linen change will be a biggie. If it is I can save the original wrap and put it back on if needed.

You could check in your area for a local repairmen to do the work.
This is what I charge $40.00 for linen $100.00 to $150.00 for leather $250.00 and up for exotic leather.

only one way to go Pete T keep it as close to original as you can also have him use cortlin anything else is wasting you money and ruining the cue
 
Steve Lomax posts on this board and does outstanding work on any type of wrap. I have two cues he did leather on and one with linen. All of them are great.

Without seeing your cue I would think a nice smooth black calfskin wrap would be the nuts.

Leather is like $125-$150 I think and Linen around $40-$50. I cant swear by these numbers but they are close I think.

It is not a Balabushka, it is one of the new production cues with the "Balabushka" signature.

If the cue is an Original Balabushka, I agree with you Pete would be a good choice, however, many Cue Makers including myself have Original Cortland Irish Linen. The problem I see with his request is that he wants a Black Wrap and I have never seen Black Cortland Irish Linen, I have on hand and have seen the Green with White Speck #9 by Cortland. I also would not recommend a Leather wrap for the cue if it did not have one to start with, because to install one you would have to also have to reduce the size of the existing handle for accommodate the new Leather wrap.

However, if the cue is a Adam Replica Balabushka it really doesn't matter what is used for Linen or leather because the cues are not collectible.

Got it today.. the linen is smooth and not "ribbed" feeling as the linen on one of my other cues is. I dislike the linen when you can feel every thread, if you know what I mean. This cue isn't laminated over the linen, but the linen is very smooth. I decided to keep it how it is.

Now I just need a custom shaft made that is about 1/2 the size of a normal one so I can use it for trouble-shooting shots in my pool room, where the walls are close (on 2 spots)
