Question O tha Day

No..just buy him a bottle of firewater..if he dont drink..just a little
gift of some sort..and try to make it funny..SA

I like the idea of giving a little something you made. My son was taking lessons from a PGA pro, and at the end of this summer, I gave him a duck call in appreciation of the work he did with my son. That was in addition to the fee he charged for the lessons.

I figure with the price of custom cues being what they are, the "tip" is included in the final price.

That said, if I was ever sittin' at a table with Dave Jacoby, I'd certainly buy him a drink (or two)!!!

35%-50%

I polled the cue builders and they feel that while fire water or trinkets are nice, the Phoenicians had a point, cash is better! Say 35%-50%

(My polling sample included one wannabe cue builder and he wasn't serious)

Here's my take on it, spending 2 grand on something that has less than a hundred dollars in parts makes it's own tip. I wouldn't even consider sending extra along with the balance due. With that said, if I was in a local pool room where that maker comes to often, and he brought it to me, yeah, I'd surely buy him a drink or 2 or pay the table time for him if he shot some with me. But a tip? I just gave the guy 2 thousand dollars.

The origins of tipping can date back to the early Romans . In our culture I believe it goes back to the Pony Express where the word T.I.P. first came to be. To Insure Promptitude . So that regular post would be received with promptness. I think if you give you are giving for both gratitude and timely service. Info free...but all tips appreciated
