Question on cue stick, please help

Just so you know. ALL the cues your looking at are made in Japan or China. They use the cheapest material to keep the cost down. The difference between them is only cosmetic. So if you see one you like buy it. Don't drive yourself crazy trying to figure out which is best.

McDermotts

The Star and Lucky McDermott lines are produced overseas, I would think the Nitro series is also.

How do you guys like these cue sticks?

Will the tips be shaped ? Which one do you guys like better? Any advise?

For a budget of less than $50, the Lucky cue from McDermott is a good buy on a decent decal cue. Of course it is a Chinese import, but they are decent beginner cues and you have McDermott to back them up. I sell these at the pool room, and people seem to like them quite a bit, for a cheap cue. Players, Action, Rage...all the cheap cues are made overseas.

If you want inexpensive American, go to Schmelke, but I don't know that you will find one for $50:

RACKEM__You get my vote for best looking cue & case for the $$$$.PLUS I notice you are a CLUB MEMBER--supporting this great web site.

Technically Dufferin didn't go out of business. They were bought out after their bankruptcy, the new owners continued marketing the brand with a line of cues imported from China.

Dufferin went out of bussiness. I dont know why, they made the best house cues on the planet. I just posted a cheap players sneaky pete.

The sneaky pete is a style of cue ment to just look like a house cue, for the purpose of not showing off your cue. So if you get decent you can gamble in bars and such a people will think its a house cue.

I have a Dufferin sneaky pete I bought my girl that she hasn't used but a few times. It is in great shape, like new condition. Looking for 65 plus shipping. Let me know if your interested and I will send you some pics.

Kevin-
This would be a good way to go. This is a better cue than any of the ones you've posted links to. The suggestion to cut a Duffrin house cue down and put a 3/8 x 10 pin in it is also a good idea IMO. Either of those cues would play really well for you

For what it's worth, I'd either go with Rackem's $80 deal or spend a few more bucks and get a Sneakiest Pete cue. The low end production cues, even the low end ones with a brand name, are mostly lacking quality. I love the McDermott brand, but those low end overseas cues they offer aren't anything like their "real" cues.

Sneaky Petes mass produced by brands like Players, etc are not really better in quality just because they are sneakies ... but custom sneaks really are a great deal due to the fact that they are made well but don't take a ton of cash due to lack of ornamentation. They still play really well though.

Of course, a custom Sneakiest Pete is still gonna be more expensive than most entry level mass produced cues. If you don't want to invest a few extra bucks and go that route, I would definately go with Rackem's suggestion. You have a trusted AZB member who is giving advice on a good low end cue, he is never going to steer you wrong. I like the look of the 4378, decent entry cue with a case and delivery cost for $80... not bad at all.
