Quirky Efren

Unbelievable!!!!!

I've always seen when Efren is using his Judd Fuller Cocobolo JT-1 he pairs it with another Judd shaft with the black collar. I thought he just liked that shaft better for whatever reason. But I was looking through Diana Hoppe's photo gallery of the latest DCC on AZB main page and saw a shot of him down on a shot with a fancier Judd. This cue has black points, black handle and ivory diamonds. But the shaft on this cue the shaft collar was phenolic which looks like it belongs on the Cocobolo JT-1.

Anybody knows what's up with this? Is he mixing shafts just to have opposite colors? I'm sure there's a logical reason.

just wonderin'

I watched him make two mistakes in a row playing Hennessee and he switched shafts. Just like any other pool player you should only use the shafts that you are comfortable playing with. It's all about comfort. Not to mention a few matches later that same day he was using a different butt with the same shafts as before. Hope this helps.

I wonder what the people who say "It's the Indian and not the Arrow"
feel about this?

I recall reading that it was a superstition of his that a cue must have black on it. Might have even been a black band on the collar that he requires.

I would think somebod more familiar with his requirement would be better to comment on this,
coughJOEYcough?

According to Efren, a cue must have black for it to have good fortune.
He said when Santos sold his (Santos) black cue, his fortune went sour.

He told me he likes that shaft because of how long it is. His cue is 60'.

If you ever leave your Judd sitting around and can't find it, find Efren, he is probably hitting balls with it.
