Why is it sickening? They both deserve the win. Although Ko did get a few lucky rolls, Shane did not capitalize very well on the easy kicks he got in return. It could easily have went the other way and Shane may very well have been in Ko's place right now.

When I first read your posts, right after the final, I found you harsh and unsympathetic to Shane's plight. I went back and watched the final starting from the score tied 9-9. From that score onward Shane did have numerous chances to win and didn't capitalize on them. Over coming adversity and winning are what legendary competitions are made from. Shane just fell a little short on what could have been a remarkable victory. Maybe next time.
Shane is not the first to be tested this way. One of my favorite all time players Francisco Bustamante seemed to be cursed. Francisco was all so close to winning championships with "World" attached to them many times, only to have some happenstance occur and deny him. Francisco finally got his and Shane is young enough to eventually win the title with word "World" attached to it also.
Thanks for your comments.
SVB is a champion of the highest order and his world championship will come one day.
I was rooting for him and was saddened by the loss. There can be no denying that a few bad rolls hurt SVB and that Ko had the better of the luck in the match, but the title was there for the taking. I feel certain that SVB himself knows this and will learn from it.
Ko Pin Yi, too, is a superstar of the highest magnitude. Wouldn't it be cool if they met again at the US Open next month?
As an American fan, this was a pleasing WPA World 9-ball Championship for me with SVB winning a silver medal and Mike Dechaine tying for 9th. Much to feel good about as I see it.
Smart move watching the replay, which seems to have put the match in a clearer perspective for you.
See you on the forum,
Stu
Colin, on the shot you posted that Shane attempted a bank on, I was hoping he would have slightly cut the 7 ball to the rail and drew the cue ball back behind the 8 ball.
I doubt if there was a player in that field that wouldn't go that that bank with BIH.
A champion HAS to go for it.
Sjm, you are quite the scholar and I enjoy reading your posts. I hope I get a chance to meet you at the Mosconi Cup, that is if you're still going lol. It all depends on Mike's induction to the team.
Then quit pool and try something else. Simple as that.
How about making pool exciting instead?
Let's hear your suggestions.
Like virtually everyone else, you mean? Great idea.

Mr Swanson....if that world nine ball final wasn't exciting to you....
...then you are an action junkie that is too hard to satisfy...
...maybe you should climb Mt Everest....or check out the war in the Middle East.
We almost conked out the stream and AZ that day...
....and over 900 viewers on the main forum reading the reports after.
Pool is exciting for a lot of us.
18.5m stayed tuned after midnight to watch the conclusion of Taylor Vs Davis, or one third of the entire population.
And if your boy wasnt in it? What then?

And that was due to the speed of the match? I guess not.
Snooker is a completely different animal and strictly British.
Lol.
Strictly british? I'm sensing something about it only being popular because of internet gambling soon...
