yea i figured that much haha. i think its been changed out, maybe it broke or something im not sure.

So let me get this right?? You are claiming that this cue is a Schon and your friend is having you sell it. Your friend is guaranteeing it's a Schon. I have had over 100 Schon's and this is not a Schon buttcap. You might want to tell your friend.
 
thank you c and c, i said that i also to believe its not a schon butt cap, we all know here that a schon butt cap is white and has the schon logo, but the cue itself is a schon with what i believe to be a replaced butt cap. so smart.
 
I'm sorry if I came off the wrong way. I just think it will be difficult selling a cue for a friend who is claiming to refund money if it isn't what it is.
 
I have not seen a R1 like this they are maple this is cocobolo I think Could be custom? the shaft looks like 82-85 Schon Good luck on it!Looks nice
 
From what i can see, that cue is definately a Schon R1 - I have and use an R1 w/ the exact same ringwork at all ABCD points, although mine is BEM. However, I think $550 and up is a bit high, especially since it doesn't have a schon buttcap - kinda like asking 500 for a Scruggs sneaky that doesn't have the 'TS' burned into it...then its just a regular old sneaky that will bring in a much lower price. People want to see the name/logo because its part of what they're paying for. Very nice cue though :cool:

I suspect that maybe your new to the forum but misrepresenting items is not a good way to get a good reputation, after this post anyone would be crazy to buy anything from you!!!!!!!!;)

Oh and about the cue being a Schon, I have never seen an R1 that wasn't Maple, but this may be the first, which I doubt, in fact the only part of the cue that mat be a Schon may be the shaft!!!!!

I would have to agree. The butt is definitely not a Schon.
The shaft appears to be aged and possibly a Schon shaft.

Something about the butt cap as well as the stainless steel joint and pin, doesn't seem like a Schon as well as the wrap.

It's a nice cue though.
 
What strikes me as odd is how the buttcap has a small ring of that lighter wood on the other side of the buttcap ringwork...looks like it was designed that way from the start. Also...thats no Schon bumper....its not even recessed. Also...if you blow up the pic a bit, the ringwork in the buttcap does not match the shaft collar ringwork. Definately a micarta ferrule though.
 
i am not new to the forum and have been here a little while and have sold several custom cues, look guys im just postingthis for a friend. he asked me to and I aggreed since hes a buddy of mine. many people have done business with me here and can vouch for me.... im not trying to cheat anyone thats why i never stated that it is a schon, my friend does, i actually email schon, im waiting for a reply

I do not think you understand by your post above that when sell something or sell something for some one else you are still responsible, because you have made yourself part of it by posting. If you know something is not right and post it anyway, you are laying your reputation on the line and whether it is for a friend or God himself it is still wrong. You may not have looked at things from this perspective, but trust me when a deal go's bad your name will be dragged through the mud because of your involvement, and your reputation will also suffer.

This is my opinion, however, I am not alone in these thought's and you should try not to do yourself a disservice in the future like you have done in this thread.

Just my thought's, no disrespect intended.
 
I have never seen an older Schon with a butt that looks like that, and I've owned a lot of them. Looks more like something that might come from Mali or ?
