Raffle to Benefit 'Bugs' Rucker!

Does anybody have any idea how I can mail these Qballs and make sure the signature doesnt rub off?

Just a guess on my part, but I would suggest to make sure you get Bugs to sign them with a Sharpie permanent ink black marker. Then wrap the balls up in bubble wrap, too, to ensure a safe shipping process. If you then place the bubble-wrapped ball in a box with styrofoam chips in the box, that will prevent the ball from moving around.

Hope this helps a little! :p

Random List Generator to help the raffle process

To help with the drawing, here is a little neat app I wrote called "Random List Generator".

Enter starting / ending number limit to set a range and press GO, it will bring back a list with all the numbers in random order. All numbers have equal chances of getting picked.

Random List Generator: http://cuetable.com/event/RandomListGenerator.html

Some potential use for this tool:

1, Picking Raffle Winners
2, Deciding Tournament Player Match
3, Choosing Which Restaurant to Order Lunch for the Office
4, ... Something Else?

Sounds good. Another guy suggested to use a cut up egg carton also.

Thanks, fellas.

This is probably the first time ever that the pool community has come together for one of its own. Everybody congratulate yourself.
Counting pledges not yet in and Paypal already in, it looks like this effort is going to hit $3000!!!

Give yourselves all a pat on the back for doing your part -- and it is not too late to get in on this if you have been on the fence! I only wish I could see the smile on Bugs face when he receives the cash :) Freddy? Got someone with a camera available? :)

No cameras, please

Please, no pics fellas. Bugs has got tubes in his nose and arms and I'm not gonna embarass him with a camera. You will all just have to rely on my reports. Otherwise you can come here and visit personally. Bugs said, aside from his wife and Jerry Hubbard, he has no visitors. I stopped by there today and dropped off $1130 in cash. He was very appreciative, and true to the hustler's code, he offered me an end of the money! Whatta guy. Naturally I refused, but bless his turned-out hustler's heart anyway. Billy Incardona is sending over $200 via Larry Swartz and Artie Bodendorfer upped it to $300 after I told him Billy was in for $200. He had to top him. Meanwhile, both these guys have already been secretly sending $ packages to Bugs for months.
I had Bugs sign 2 cue balls only, everything is an effort for him, and I didnt want to impose too much. When I bring the next check I'll bring the rest of the cue balls.

Of course -- being an inveterate shutterbug, I forget that not every moment is right for photodocumentation... Thank you for the sobering reminder, and especially thank you for your help in doing this for Bugs, clearly he can use the lift!

We are over $3000 now, and I did already put a second check in the mail to Chicago earlier today!!!

The list of donors (both for raffle items and raffle tickets) is very impressive. I do intend to 'out' those who have given, so if you wish to remain anonymous, be sure to let me know. By PM or email steve@onepocket.org

Of course anyone of a competitive nature who is compelled to give a little more -- it is not too late!

Thanks again, and keep it coming...

how much time??

excuse me if someone has already asked this but I didn't have time to read all of it... I want to send a check... how long do we have before the raffle is drawn?? thanks and sorry again if this was redundant

The raffle will be drawn on or shortly after July 17th -- that's next Tuesday, so there is still plenty of time to mail a check!

Make your check payable to OnePocket.org and mail to:
OnePocket.org
56 Baptist Road
Canterbury, NH 03224

mention Bugs anywhere -- actually I will assume any check is for Bugs, unless otherwise noted.

For those wishing to purchase tix online, or view the complete list of raffle items, just visit this link:

Bugs Rucker Video

After hearing of this charitable effort, we searched our video archive and found some video of Bugs Rucker at the 2005 Derby City Classic.

Grady Mathews hosted a special photo session in the BCn TV arena. We spiced it up just a little. Thanks again to Grady for his effort.

Best wishes to Bugs.

Man, that was great!! I couldn't believe all the people lined up to be photographed with Bugs -- Weenie Beenie even! Piggy Banks, Earl Strickland, Grady of course, Conrad Burkman, Shannon Daulton, Darrell Abernathy, David Matlock, Danny Di Liberto, Brian Gregg, Mark Jarvis, Marco Marquez, Bill Incardona...

This clip must have been shot the night before our first One Pocket Hall of Fame dinner -- we squeezed 45 guests into what last year became the "AZBilliards/OnePocket.org room". Bugs was inducted along with Ronnie Allen, Weenie Beenie, Grady and a few others. That was the start of our One Pocket Hall of Fame.

Thanks for posting this, Rob!!!

Another addition to the raffle list!

Bill Porter has donated two of the DVD's he put together of his and Mike Haine's photographs from 1980's pool tournaments. These photos include many great shots of today's well known players (when they were much younger!) and also many shots of legends of the game that are no longer with us.

Thank you, Bill (and Mike!)

There is still plenty of time to buy tickets for this benefit for Chicago Bugs!
The complete raffle list is here:

Add Nick Varner!

Nick Varner has just donated a NV-63 cue stick to the raffle!!

Just watched the video you put together. Great job. Thanks so much. We had a great time honoring Bugs and I'm so glad we did it.

I searched my home to find something raffle-worthy, but came up empty at this time.

So I am mailing to Steve Booth, a check for 50 bucks from Keith. Better cash it quickly! :D [just kidding]

Please add it to the fund as a gift. I do not desire to buy any raffle tickets and would rather the monies go directly to Bugs himself!

Thanks for making this happen for one of American's finest players in his time of need. I think it is wonderful to see the pool world pulling together like this to help another! :)

HOW ABOUT A KEITH SIGNED CUEBALL? I AM IN FOR $20 IF HE WOULD DO IT.

Thanks, Ken. Let me find out where I can purchase some blank cueballs. Gee, I guess they're all blank, now that I think about it! :p

When I get my paws on one, I will PM you and let you know. This is only the first Bugs raffle, and I think there will be more sine die!

Thank you for your kind offer to contribute to this raffle for Bugs, making it the best ever. It is heartwarming to see the pool community pull together like this for one of their own.
