Raj has been on a mission these last few weeks. Getting some pool tips from Ralf Souquet and Rodney Morris has turned him into a ball running machine.

He's doing great in the World Pool Master tournament. Recently he won a big European event beating out Marcus Chamat.

Right now, in the WPM's he's had back to back wins over Ga Young Kim 9-1 and Jason Klatt 9-3.

I knew that Souquet and Morris had the good stuff. They will wind up in JoeyA's booth one day and I will force the secrets out of them. :D

Keep up the good play Raj!

Good post, Joey! I had the good fortune to meet and talk at length with Raj and Rodney, when they graced our local pool room here for a Jacoby Carolina Tour event a couple of years ago. Raj is a supreme talent and highly personable.

Second that... unless he has seen the light in recent years... he has been less than noteworthy until a recent victory.

I doubt he has changed much.

Raj has APPARENTLY improved his level of play in recent months and when I met him in Galveston, TX he was very personable, funny and a great conversationalist.

His recent win or Marcus Chamat and another strong European field suggests that he IS an improved player as well as his strong scores on his first two matches.

Sheesh. :o You and black-ball need to look at what Raj is doing now, not what he has done in past years.

Haha! I will give you 3 clues about which word you keep using that is clouding your vision. Starts with a w, ends with an n and I in the middle.

I call bs on both those statements!

I can only speak from my experience and share my impressions. You are certainly entitled to your own opinion. Mind you I said supreme talent. I realize he hasn't placed or won as often as expected, but I would think being a past World Pool Masters champion, by anyone's definition, would qualify as a supreme talent.

Regarding his personality, I am quite aware of his reputation for braggadocio. But, again, in my experience he was humble and gracious in victory.

There we go with that when winning thing again!

Both Raj and Rodney stopped in for the tournament, virtually unannounced, enroute to the BCA, which that year was held in Charlotte, NC. Not very welcome news, all-n-all, for the local and regional heavyweights (which included, by the way, Mike Davis and Wade Crane)!! Now, both of them could have been aloof, impatient and dismissive. They were quite the contrary. Engaging, inclusive, generous with their time and instruction.

My experiences with Raj have included the Derby City Classic, IPT and the US Open, none have been in a public situation speaking into a mic. None of these experiences have been worth mentioning as a character reference.

Players usually put on a very humble 'show' when a mic is in front of their face.. I some 'some' maybe it is 99.9% of them do.

He's having a good day... that doesn't make him a World Champion... not yet anyway. His past performances would indicated that he would be lucky to finish in the money in this event.

and all that shit!

People think Raj can't play or beat anyone in a session? Weird. I don't see people tripping over themselves to gamble with him.

I think he's a great guy - funny as hell.

The way you got most of the pros to give up some of their well guarded secrets at Galvaston was great, and I hear more and more of them on other streams throwing the stream a bone here and there. I do believe you started something. Let's face it most of the books and dvd's out there don't really have what the advanced player is looking for and wouldn't mind paying for. Thanks Joey. Johnnyt

Thanks Johnnyt.

They say when people start doing what you originated, it is the sincerest form of flattery whether they give you credit for starting it or not.

I appreciate you noticing it, too.

For the record Tom: Raj didn't have a chance to put on his best suit in my booth at Galveston. In fact, Raj has never been in my booth, ever.

World Champion or not, the guy has talent and it is not a small amount of it either.

If Raj has had the gonads to go up against a warrior like Chris Bartram, I think he can be considered a great talent.

Furthermore, one of his recent charitable works got my attention and you can see that by CLICKING HERE. This alone says he is a good guy and great for pool.

Raj is good for the sport of pool. I easily condone his self-promotion. No, I actually like and respect his self-promotion.

More pool players should be doing just what he does. It could improve the industry as a whole.

GO RAJ! :D

Raj is good for pool. JoeyA is good for pool. SpiderWeb is good for pool. Even CTE is good for pool. I might disagree with every one of them from time to time, but they are ALL GOOD FOR POOL!

Geeze...Joey... I never once said the guy couldn't play. Don't get your panties all in a wad.

You make a post and I add a comment.. and you reply... what is wrong with that?

If he wins this tournament... I will be the first to say Congrats... but until then your promotional post just is that... a promotional post.

We can have our opinions can't we? or is it against your rules?

GO RAJ! :D
