Ralph Eckert's reference lines

jolietjames :)

i m sure many many of the *still-playing* poolplayers often thinkin the same way. The hardest way is to choose the right way at the beginning. Most of us players haven t got the luck to get qualified instructions how do learn it the right way- so you do it on your own for years-and later the most (not all:p) are just too lazy of having other excuses :)
On systems like Ralph shown up here (let me call it a system), this systems shows you immediatley if you don t have a repeatable stroke-and often this is the end for the most players who just say then* it doesn t work* instead of workin on their fundamentals.......bc then these 2 reference lines will probably help you in every game :)

keep shooting,
ingo

Mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut! Ich lernte ein wenig in der schule.

I saw this on the PAT site. I would prefer an English version and not have to work through the German version. Any chance it will be translated soon?

Best,
Mike

Dein Deutsche ist gut genug. Du sollte Es mal lesen koennen bin ich sicher.

I saw these a month or two ago after they were posted in another thread. Good stuff indeed, I wouldn't have predicted either result would be so consistent.

When I view the first clip, I hear the audio, but the video is solid green. Is this the case for others also?
Nope. Looks fine to me on Firefox/Windows 7.
It works fine on another computer I tested. That's odd that only one of the three videos failed to play properly on the first computer. Must be an Adobe Flash Player issue related to the first file.

Again, good stuff.

Hi mosconiac,

i m always open and interested in any kind of billiards-infos i don t know. Perhaps something new i could show or offer students :)
Do you have material about *Joes positional system* ?
If so, just send me a PM and we can change emails :)

I'll second mosconiac's recommendation of Joe Villalpando's DVDs, which have been discussed in other threads:
http://pooliq.net/aboutdvd.htm

I was reminded of these DVDs when I saw Ralf's videos. Dr. Dave's clips belong to the same category of positional rules.

The Eight-Ball Bible by Givens has several pages dedicated to calculating position. His descriptions are clear and brief:
http://bankingwiththebeard.com/?p=245

Finally, you'll find plenty of pointers for calculating angles & position in Bob Jewett's articles from his years at Billiards Digest:

Hello there,

meanwhile we've published the next video with Ralph Eckert.

It is about the so called Baseline which should help to get the right stand and prevent corrections that could lead to missed shots.

You can find the video on www.stuttgartopen.de, the page of the Stuttgart Open, a tournament completely managed and streamed by Pool-Stage (June, 24-26).

Greetings from Germany,

the three Stuges äh Stagies ;-)

Excellent thread. Saw these earlier today, went out to my shop and practiced and couldn't believe I didn't know this before.
I can usually "just see" my positioning but wow, now I know why and much easier to shoot and know the outcome.

Ralph Eckert has some of the BEST MATERIAL I have ever seen. No wonder Toastie goes back for reinforcement.
