Rambow anyone?

Hey, Lord only knows I don't want to expose anyone's "secret" finds on ebay (Scouts Honor) but if you scroll down the Rambow thread this is listed as an item that "Others are Watching". It's up to $160--who made this cue? Has MOP diamond inlays and nice veneers.

OK, I want to apologize if any of you are watching and bidding on this one-

I'm not really a Scout:rolleyes:

Red, white, & blue veneers...must be American made huh?

Strange, I didn't notice anyone mention that the Rambo name was spelled
incorrectly. Even the person that listed it didn't seem to known. :p
Rod.

Rambo is Sylvester Stallone. Rambow is the Hall of Fame cuemaker.

Looks like it's about $100 to high already:shrug:

Looks like an AZ member and a AZ member's brother both bidding 10K.

Should be interesting.

Maybe my cat will wake up for this one.

Hardly...I only have one more bid to make and either I get it or I don't. Let the cat sleep!

I think the cats is, not surprisingly, taking a small nap, but waking up in 2 days just might be on the agenda.

I'm confused. Is this post:

"I could care less who is trying to buy this cue! Unless you have about $8,000-$10,000 in your pocket...it's mine"

still operative?

I don't know Rambows very well, and as rare as they might be like this one, there aren't many transparent comparable sales. I have an acquaintance in the auction business that somehow ended up with a cue similar to this and I remember telling him that his value opinion, based on the Blue Book, was probably way out of line with the market. I was looking forward to your 8 to 10K value happening and giving me something to talk to my acquaintance about (while prying his Rambow out of his hands).

Thanks

Kevin

I WANT THE SLEEPY CAT! Ron

That cat is one of my spokespimps in my eBay auctions and you will have to stand in line behind the 2341264514875 sterling flatware and fancy china buyers who have tried to bid on her.

Not only does she sleep all day but she snores (almost zero nose).

Thanks

Kevin

The Master!!

K..You are the absolute Master at side-tracking a post..I'll bet with a ball of yarn I could get any cue you have..

Its worth a try anyway (the yarn).

I actually disagree with the content of this thread regarding the harm done to AZers by the "outing" of eBay auctions, but its just an opinion, and I'd rather talk about cats and cars and lawns.

I hope the cue goes for 10K, at that ticket maybe I'd have a chance to get my hands on my auction associate's Rambow and make some money.

Thanks

Kevin

Cue??

I never was a buyer for the cue..I just think everyone should do their own homework, that's all!

I don't think it makes much difference. We all assume that all the best eBay cue bidders are AZ members, and, speaking as a guy that sells lots of cues on eBay and loves AZ, that's just really (for whatever reason - I have theories here too of course) not the case anymore.

I get the "do your own homework" thing. Joe Van and I were just talking about this, the internet has completely changed the information game. Wonder who some guy is hanging out in your pool room ?. Simply snap a pic of him off your phone, put it on AZ and in a day you will have his name, APA rating, credit score and shoe and bankroll size. We can cry "no fair" all we want, but this is the information age and there are no longer any secrets. The game has changed. I say change with it, but I know the feeling of otherwise.

All that being said. I love older Porches, old cues, old style cues and old style values.

Thanks

Kevin

It does no good to go back in forth with others who are bidding when the only bid that counts is the final winning bid. I know what the cue is worth and I know how much I'm willing to spend, my final bid will reflect that!

PS: let me know if you are succesful prying that Rambow out of your buddies hands...I could use 2! I'll trade you a years worth of Fancy Feast for it!

Thanks for the tip on what bid counts.

I would suspect that my ability to obtain that cue might depend on the success of this auction. So bid it up!

As this thread would tend to indicate, guys that stand together and bid against each other at auctions are rarely "buddies". I searched my mind for what to call this guy and "associate" was the best I could do. As auctioneers love to say during bidding wars, "no friends at an auction!"

I do get the "no good to go back and forth" thing. Some might even say your 8 to 10K claim was ill-advised, but everybody at at auction has their own pre-bidding strategy and high-rolling (even with somebody else's dough) is certainly one.

Good luck to all.

Kevin
