Ran Into THIS Guy at Pool League

Actually, I've run into quite a few celebrities over the years at New York City poolrooms. Oftentimes, they play quite a bit. Paul Sorvino goes through stints where you'll see him every day for weeks and you know he's got nothing else to do.
Others I've seen multiple times:
Jerry Orbach - One of the best celebrity players I've ever seen. He was clearly A-speed.
Roger Clemens - He stinks but loves to play. He often played pool the night before he pitched a day game or the day of a nighttime start.
Andy Pettitt - He went wherever Roger went and stinks more than Roger stinks.
Cory Lidle - Probably around B/B+. He seamlessly started hanging in the poolroom like any other railbird. You wouldn't have been able to guess he was a starting pitcher for the Yankees.
I saw HOFer NHL center Adam Oates at the rack in Boston years ago. We were walking in and I said hey that's Adam Oates walking up to the door. Funny part was they intially would not let him in the door because he was wearing Converse Chuck Taylors. 2 seconds later when someone recognized him he got in..

I have a friend of mine that plays in Jersey. He used to gamble with former Nets' Jayson Williams and for the first couple of sessions, my friend had no idea who he was. At one point, Williams asks my friend, "Do you know who I am?" My friend, a great pool player but not a basketball fan says, "No. Do YOU know who I am?"
I've been to the Rack, it was reallllyyy bad for pool. Tables had spills on them less than a month after they were open, couches up against the tables so you could not stand to shoot, they kept the house cues under the tables where the bridges would go. Went there once for about 20 minutes, never went back.
Lyndon is great though, he's on the radio now, listen to him every morning on way to work on WAAF.
Played some craps once with him in a crappy little casino. He was really laid back and cool.

The little I've learned about Sorvino over the years, I can totally see that. He's not very "Hollywood" and really enjoys being a normal guy. On the other hand, I wouldn't say the same about Seinfeld. He's a bit of a recluse and doesn't like being approached at all when he's playing. In fact, I don't think he goes to poolrooms anymore.
Why would you feel the need to approach Seinfeld.

I don't quite know how else to put it but this was Amsterdam Billiards on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. This was Seinfeld Country. Seinfeld could do no wrong. If he said anything to you funny or not, it was remembered and documented like Moses talking to God.

Despite all the huge advantages of being a celebrity – money, women, etc. – I imagine it would get tiresome when you just want to do something simple like shoot a game of pool and people are all over you. It’s the price of fame, but I can understand how you’d be a little standoffish. And Seinfeld is exponentially more famous than Sorvino is, so if he opened the floodgates he’d never be able to get down and shoot.
Yeah the rack was kind of lame with the gold felt. When I worked in the city I loved to go in there in a suit after work and look for action. Lots of fools from the financial district with big $$$ getting boozed up on a Friday after work from that standpoint it was perfect

Paul plays about James Tolkien's speed he loves the game but is around a strong C to weak B player. His daughter also loves the game. Here is my ranking of all time entertainers playing ability.
