Rare Beauty

That room must be so loud to play in.

A place called Ivory Billiards in MA has the tables, although I wish the pockets were a bit smaller

I think the first photo's are from a Brunswick model poolroom. I seem to recall Brunswick trying to market turnkey poolrooms. They would sell you almost everything to go into the poolroom business, at one price! Brunswick projected business increases based on a few year increase with no end in sight. It was kind of like the old thing of doubling your money every day.

According to Brunswick you could be a gazillionaire in a few years with a constantly growing cashflow. Pie in the sky and the marketing resembled a pyramid scheme. I think they made it to market and sold a few rooms but Brunswick didn't cover the US with poolrooms as they envisioned.

When the GC1 came out, they were offering complete packages, from architects drawings to build outs to complete installations. They even published catalogs and brochures offering that service. The bowling/pool package was huge for a while. There was a man named Vic Zodda who did the whole deal in a town near home. That was 1963, I think.

I remember a bowling alley/pool hall from about 1960 in I think Greenville Mississippi. There was also a washateria as part of the complex or next to it, the appeal of the place to my mother with four rambunctious children. Gold Crown style tables and the bowling equipment was all Brunswick, I don't think they had any involvement with the washateria.

There was a half wall and plate glass windows between the pool room and bowling alley best I recall. We weren't allowed in the pool area so naturally I was fascinated in where I couldn't go. First pool room I ever saw inside of when I think about it although I don't know if I would call it a pool hall. They were trying to sell the family image even then.

There was a 12-14 minute marketing video by Bwick back when the GC1 was released on a channel on YouTube that got deleted for copy write strikes.

I can’t find that video anywhere else. It was a pitch in how Bwick would design your pool room and supply the equipment. Was a “turnkey” success pitch based on pool and featured the GC1 as the centerpiece of such a biz model.

I never looked on this or site or any archives for that video. But I did watch it several times. It was pulled off YT maybe 4-5 years ago.

I played in lots of those rooms growing up….Brunswick crowded as many tables as they could get in and put lots of florescent tubes all over the ceiling….gave it the atmosphere of a mens rest room.

Fatboys basement.

Odd hours of operation,6 hours a day?

UPDATED HOURS

MONDAY - SUNDAY: 6PM-12AM

There were rumors they were on the verge of closing, I don't go there much so not really a regular. Only there on charity tournaments/fundraisers.
The customers there are just a bunch of clowns anyway

There was a fundraiser for the Shriners there, and we had a partner's tournament with them. The young kid in grey t-shirt is my son, this was Summer of 2017. Last picture he is holding a Lomax cue we won for $20 in another fundraiser raffle Oct of 2017. I like to think of my raffle wins as good karma for trying to play in any charity event near me LOL

Yes that’s exactly right. I played in a few of those rooms in the mid 80’s. They were very bright. Most were yellowed by that time as the smoke had done its damage. The video spoke of the design service that Bwick would provide and maybe even help with location selection. Had a franchise feel to it-the video that is.

I’ve been in some very bad pool rooms that could have benefited from professional design.

That biz model is clearly ran its course these days.

I’d like to see that video again.

2 rooms that I frequent in our area still have the combination of bowling alleys and pool tables, Diamonds though, not Brunswicks.

Gonna have to get that pic to a friend of mine to enlarge and frame,,it's going to look great in the man cave next to my Cent in the middle of the room. Favorite tables of all times are the anniversary and centennial's .
