Settle down, you started your post by saying you don't want to denigrate or insult anyone, then you proceed to reference me as ALWAYS has been an A-hole, ask Ike. Have I ever referred to you (at any time)any thing other than being an excellent player or a champion? I have never mentioned your name in a derogatory way, have I? I'm 63 years old and have been playing pool for 48 years,45 as a professional, minus 15 or so years in retirement. My reputation precedes me,as does yours. Incidentally that was a long list of people you mentioned that would concur with your assessment of my character. Freddie can defend me on this, he was there when I played Ike. Okay Freddie heres your chance to pick up some points, just tell it like it was.Grady in regard to you and I playing some more one pocket , I guess that there's very little chance of that considering your terms.I thought that since you opened your room that you would work yourself into better stroke than you were in ,the last time we played.By the way i've always liked you as a person/player with the exception of the times when you became a little difficult, usually resulting from an ego based issue. Good luck with your room,on the square, Bill Incardona
Very accurate description of what happened at that time. They in Detroit referred to him as Little Jimmy. Standing only a few inches taller than 5ft. Heres another incident that happened with Little Jimmy. There was this mob guy that would come into The Rack(the famous pool room in Detroit)on a regular basis, and Jimmy would always sit next to him and in a obnoxious way reminisce with him,all along slapping him with his hard hands on the mob guys back.He would say, remember this time ,than slapp him on the back. Well needless to say this became very old and hard for this mob guy to take. But Jimmy was relentless. Well this guy would have no more of this disrespectfull treatment he was getting from this disregardful pug, and ordered a hit on him.The next day Jimmy was kid-napped, put into a potato sack, beaten unmercifully and thrown into a dumpster left for dead.Jimmy somehow miraculously recovered from this beating and was brought to a hospital where he spent over a week healing. After he was released from the hospital he went directly to The Rack. Wouldn't you know it the mob guy was sitting there reading a paper. Jimmy saw him and went over to him and slapped him hard on his back and said " Hey did you hear what happened to me "freddy the beard said:(I was there to sweat it, JAM.)
John Popcorn Miller.
Corn and I were hanging out at the Rack in Detroit and he was playing somebody, and this ex-fighter, sweator kept sticking his nose in the Corn's game. The guy was a real pain and he did it to everybody. He would snitch if the guy slept a ball, tell the guy to quit, that he had a bad game, call fouls etc. He got away with it because of his fighter status. Corn warned him and said he would have a surprise for him the next day if he didnt stop his act. That slowed the sweator down not a step. The next day Corn came in with a long sock with a cue ball inside and he went up to the hog and bopped him over the head. It didn't stop the hog from being a pain in the ass to other pool players but it did keep him away from the rest of Popcorn's games. Philly's Joel Marx eventually went outside with the guy and gave him a beating for the same reasons.

Grady said:If I do any more serious gambling it'll be in my new place. I don't mean to denigrate or insult anyone. The truth is though, that everybody knew I'd play anybody in the world even up One Pocket from say, 1980 to 1993. Now I'm not saying I would have won, just that I liked myself a lot playing anyone even. And EVERY time I played good or great then at One Pocket, I won, just that simple. I also went regularly to other player's home courts and defeated them.
To finish up with Billy, he's been an A-hole all of his life. He has won like 95% of the times he's gambled and he's not pleasant to play with, just ask Ike if you don't believe me.
In Baltimore, I was really tired, having played Bugs for 10 hours and Billy for another three but the biggest and only reason I quit that night was that, as always, family comes first and I needed the money.
Keith, Cole Dixon, Ritchie Florence, etc.,were much better action for anyone than the likes of a Cardone.
As for the past, look, I defeated Ronnie Allen, Bugs, Romburg, Artie, Parica, Efren, Eddie Taylor, Jersey Red, and a host of other greats, playing even up One hole. Can Billy say that he beat even one of the aforementioned giants playing even? Of course not!!! Give me a break. I won four World One Pocket titles and after every one of those the bank was open, if anybody wanted to play.
I will admit that in the nineties my game hasn't been what I would've liked. As I write these words I'm working hard on my game but I don't know that I'll regain the ability or confidence I once had. But if I do decide to do something with any Cardonelike opponent, meaning someone near my age, it'll have to be a 30 hour session. What's the point of keeping myself in shape if I don't try to use that to my advantage?
freddy the beard said:Very funny, Billy. I had completely forgotten about that story. The Rack was a very dangerous place. People dont realize that there was 4 different mobs hanging out at the Rack. The Syrian, Italian, Jewish and Black mafia all gambled with each other. Why there was never a bunch of killings there was a miracle, as each group didnt like the other. The Purple Gang and Al Sherman, at one point had me barred from the Rack, under penalty of death, but you spoke up for me, and got the ban and contract lifted. Again, I thank you for that. That's why I think Grady was out of line calling you an A-hole. A creep maybe, but certainly not an A-hole.

As far as the Ike thing. I attended, and bet on you both outings. The reality, was that Ike was the villain. In Chicago we call it hum-bugging. He pulled nine zillion shots on you, and it was only when somebody with sense must have got to him, and told him to forget about all that bullsh*t he was trying to pull, and go ahead and concentrate on just playing. It was at that point that his best game came on, and he proceeded to play great and beat you. What had always kept Ike from being a top player before, was all his arguing and hum-bugging. Unfortunately for you, he finally grew up and put that sh*t behind him.

Marvel said:Ok. I take Evgeny Stalev![]()
I saw Evgeny play Efren with 7-8 handicap. They played 20gbp (40usd) per rack.
Evgeny wasn't motivated and lost few racks and quit.
Later in the evening Evgeny played Bustamante. I saw Evgeny making amazing shots, his motivation was high. Later I saw Busty paying him some cash and leaving the table with frustration on his face.
I asked Evgeny how much he won. He said "200 pounds (400 dollars), score 5-0". I asked how much he got weight, Evgeny answered "Nothing of course, Bustamante cannot play One Pocket"
Later I saw him beat Efren for few racks also.
That happened in Cardiff, either 01, 02 or 03.
I don't know how much Evgeny's Pyramid career has taken from his pool skills, but I believe he's one of the top One Pocket players in the world today, still.
I'm not a gambler, if I was, I could take easy 5k from you Jay![]()
Ronnie Alcano gave lot's of credit to "russian boy" about 1pkt also..
jay helfert said:Okay, I stand corrected. I forgot about him. Thanks for the heads up. I do know he plays very good One Pocket. How good, no one seems to really know. He can give Ike a ball and I'll let him play anyway.
wayne said:I think you have Stalev's one-pocket game way overrated. Efren could barbeque him. I am just a decent one-pocket player and Stalev asked me to play. I said I would play him even for $25 a game or we could play $100 a game if he gave me 9-7. I beat him 6 games getting 9-7. He came back a couple of days later and we played again. I won 4 straight games (total $1000 winner) and his backer wouldn't let him continue.
Efren and Alcano would destroy me if I only got 9-7. Bustamante seems to have a similar game to Stalev, not a lot of one-pocket knowledge but will run 8 and out anytime.

Hi Wayne. I haven't heard anything about Alcano playing one-pocket. From what you say, he seems to be significantly better than Bustamante, and Django appears at #7 on Billy's list.wayne said:I think you have Stalev's one-pocket game way overrated. The others dont even come close.
May you enjoy the rest of your life.
jay helfert said:I'm not aware of any match-ups with Hohmann or Engert against any top One Pocket players. If it happened, it is a well kept secret. And by the way, just because you are a champion at 9-Ball or 14.1 does not mean you will be good at One Pocket. You can be the European 9-Ball champ ten years in a row, and still not be able to beat a strong One Pocket Shortstop. I'm taking Ike Runnels over ALL the European champions, if anyone wants to put up 5K in Louisville.
Mika is probably the best of the foreign players and he doesn't like the game either.
