Ratings and/or numbers for The Hustlers

The Hustlers is preceded and followed by Hardcore Pawn.

ok - read this REAL FAST - and tell me it doesn't come out as: PORN!!!!
(our pool ratings should be equal to theirs, if for no other 60min break reason of not changing the channel....)

I'll have numbers in the next couple hours on ratings and let you guys know if we're doing good or bad.

cool! thank you for pulling this info! :happydance:

Thank you for finding this. To me, the numbers aren't too bad for a show that only had 5 episodes to build up a following. Putting it in perspective, here is the ranking of TruTV, and all their shows on that list for comparison.

Cable Network Rankings:
45. TruTV - 0.117
45 out of 55 channels.

Here is a list of all the TruTV shows on that list, and their respective rankings. I believe Barmageddon came lower than The Hustlers, and have been renewed for a second season.

Unscripted Shows:
103. Fake Off (TruTV) - 0.128
104. TruTV Top Funniest (TruTV) - 0.126
111. How to Be a Grown Up (TruTV) - 0.110
123. The Hustlers (TruTV) - 0.080
126. Barmageddon (TruTV) - 0.060
...
129. Unusually Thicke (Pop) - 0.027

For the week of May 31 - June 6, 2015, TNT was the highest rated cable network with an average of 1.473 - followed by USA (1.178), HBO (1.129), Discovery (0.826) and Spike (0.727).

Unscripted Shows:

1. Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta (VH1) - 1.537
...
123. Chasing Classic Cars (Velocity) - 0.080
The Hustlers (TruTV) - 0.080
Junkyard Empire (Velocity) - 0.080
...
129. Unusually Thicke (Pop) - 0.027

Ratings are a funny thing. The number doesn't mean the same thing to everyone. A .8 show on trutv would be a smash but while on a different network it would be cancelled. When they sell ad space they promise a rating... Whatever that might be, if they get that number, show is gonna come back. If the crush the number, they're gonna get paid. If the fall short of the number, see ya.

Did mikey ever get the real numbers?

I honestly just hope the show sticks around, so billiards has some sort of regular home on national TV. I enjoy the show very much, once I disengage my billiard brain. The show reminds me alot of street outlaws. I know it's mostly fabricated, but there are solid players here.

good luck to all involved, and I hope team free money takes them all off!!!

The Hustlers

I actually like the show. The banter and back and forth woofing is something I enjoy and have seen quite often in the pool scene. This is entertainment and I do find it entertaining. As for the lists that someone mentioned...Dee Adkins has a list of the top 25 that play in his pool hall on a fairly regular basis in the tournaments. 11-25 must play for a minimum of $25 and 1-10 must play for a minimum of $50 (entry fees of course). The race is to 9 playing 9-ball, 9 on the break doesn't count and it is rack your own. Winner break. Unfortunately, the games are played on 7ft barbox tables. There are other stipulations as well but it has generated a lot of interest and excitement. There is also a list for Women and they can potentially be on both lists. In addition, this has brought out a lot of players that are not on the list that are looking for action (small and large). Players has high stakes matches almost weekly now. Dee has done a fantastic job with this room and the equipment is in great shape. We have also learned that there are other pool halls doing the same thing and it is also generating interest in those locations. This has definitely brought out who is willing to play for small stakes and larger stakes. It will also give players at the local level of determining just where they fit in. The limit is set to $100 with respect to the list to keep players from getting high rolled. I for one am looking forward to playing my challenge match against the guy above me tomorrow night. The show has shaken things up a bit and I am hopeful that it sparks either more episodes or new shows that have pool as the centerpiece. I am quite sure that there will be plenty of players that will step up to the 9-ft tables and try some cheap action or larger action as well that start on this list. There are some players on the list that would arguably be the best amateur players in our area and some who are not yet on it but will be soon. This is just a start as WAY more than 25 players have been asking to take part.

Thank you for this insight. Now the Friday night time slot makes sense. Friday night probably has a lower ad rating than other prime time nights. So, the expectations are lower and higher chance to succeed.

I think this show will continue to develop a following with mainstream audience in re-runs. For people on AZ, a significant portion are too focus on the technical aspects of the game to enjoy it. Then again, they're not the 18-49 target demographic for the channel, and the show.

When this show succeeds, it will probably be the recipe to bring on other pool theme shows. If it fails, don't be surprised if ESPN stops showing pool again.

Still waiting for the exact numbers but the executive producer got in contact with some of us and let us know there's a good shift in the right direction. As vague as that is, definitely a positive sign. We will see.

By the way the same production company that does Street Outlaws also does our show so that's why you may see a few similarities. You can put money into a car and make it go faster...doing that with a cue won't work as most of us have probably found out at one point or another.

I'm thinking about doing something for the forum to answer a lot of these questions that come up...stay tuned

Mikey,

Perhaps you could invite plot and challenge concepts from the members. Some have some very good stories of real life events that could make the basis of story lines.

If a couple became part of the show, that would help members feel a part of the production.

I see more people tweeting about it every week. Even some non pool players it seems. I always try to tweet and use the show's hashtag while I'm watching it to try to draw in a few people.

That's a really good idea Colin and one that actually sounds like it would work as well. It would be like our own little secret and a nod to the top pool community there is.

I'm starting to notice that too, unfortunately they don't use the official hashtag of the show a lot of the time which I really don't know how to change. #trutvhustlers is what the network follows the closest.

My wife & I enjoy it...so will do so for as long as it lasts.

That's saying something, because we usually hate so called "reality" TV.

I'd bet you have NEVER bet on a street race, right???

There was a fair bit of talk about the show at the DC area APA TriAnnuals last weekend. Nobody I mentioned it to said, "what's that?" They all had seen or at least knew about it.

In comparison, when I mention the upcoming Make it Happen One Pocket event, to one pocket players not to APA players, the usual response is "What's that?"

I wonder how much the show could from the APA, or TAP, to weave some league play into the show?
